The Predator, known by fans as Predator 4, is the name of the Predator sequel from Shane Black. The script was written by Shane Black and Fred Dekker and was released September 14, 2018 in the United States while the UK got it two days earlier on September 12th.

- Jake Busey as Sean Keyes, the son of Peter Keyes, from Predator 2 is a scientist for the government agency.

Pre-Production
On June 24, 2014, it was revealed that Shane Black would direct a reboot to Predator. He wrote the treatment for it and Fred Dekker wrote the script. John Davis produced the new Predator film. There was some initial reports that it was going to be a reboot/remake but on June 25, 2014, Shane Black clarified that he will be making a sequel in the Predator series and not a reboot.
Shane Black is no stranger to the franchise having played commando Hawkins in the 1987’s Predator. Most recently, he co-wrote and directed 2013’s Iron Man 3. Whilst promoting The Nice Guys, Shane Black spoke about how he became attached to The Predator, stating he hadn’t initially wanted the job despite Fox getting in contact and asking him to do it. It was Fox’s willingness to make a big budget, “spectacle” film that convinced Black to become involved.

In August 2015, producer John Davis said Shane Black’s script has a fresh perspective and will reinvent the franchise. At the end of November 2015, Fred Dekker confirmed that the script for Predator 4 had been “turned in”. On the 16th of February 2016, Shane Black confirmed Predator 4’s title was in fact The Predator.
There were rumours circulating for years that Arnold Schwarzenegger might reprise his role as Dutch Schaefer in a Predator film. Schwarzengger had lunch with Black but Schwarzenegger revealed was very unhappy with the script and refused to take part, saying he’d only do it if “there’s a chance that they rewrite it, or make it a more significant role.” His role in the film was going to be very minimal.
Fugitive Predator
In April 2016, rapper 50 Cent said he would have a role in the Predator film but this never transpired. There were a few different actors in the running for the lead role. Ben Affleck and Bradley Cooper reportedly passed on the lead role. James Franco was in the running at one point. MMA Fighter Conor McGregor was offered the role but turned it down due to money. Boyd Holbrook replaced Del Toro. Olivia Munn then joined the cast as a scientist in the movie. The character Keyes was played by Jake Busey who happens to be the son of the government agent Peter Keyes from Predator 2. Peter Keyes was played by Gary Busey who is Jake’s father in real-life.
Production
The Predator was originally due to begin filming in September 2016 but that was delayed. Filming commenced in February 20, 2017 and ended filming May 15, 2017 in Vancouver, Canada. Amalgamated Dynamics who are no stranger to the franchise having worked on Alien 3, Alien Resurrection, AvP and AvP Requiem handled the practical effects such as the Predator costume. Post-Production
The visual effects were provided by MPC, Atomic Fiction, Raynault VFX, Rising Sun Pictures and Proof. The Upgrade Predator is the first time in a Predator film that a Predator was a purely CGI creation. Henry Jackman did the score for the film, which took Alan Silvestri’s themes from the original Predator. The film’s soundtrack album was released by Lakeshore Records on September 28, 2018.
The Upgrade Predator – Most of the third act was reshot during the nighttime.
There were some considerable reshoots during post-production. Most of the third act of the film was reshot due to the poor reaction from the test screenings. Firstly, the Ark was carrying a few hybrid creatures in stasis tubes which escape and the Loonies have to fight them. These scenes were in the test screenings with unfinished visual effects. Two ‘Emissary’ Predators were cut from the finished film. They would have been seen firing mounted guns during an APC chase, battling the Upgrade Predator and the hybrid creatures.
Originally, Edward James Olmos was going to play General Woodhurst working above Traeger’s character. There was a scene showing Olmos in his office and another at the Ark. Originally, the third act was shot during the day time but according to Black, the CGI looked terrible so it was changed to night. Edward James Olmos said his scenes were cut due to pacing issues. None of these deleted scenes were on the DVD/Blu-Ray though you could see some footage in the behind-the-scenes features. Two alternative endings were shot – one showing Ripley in a pod with a breather mask and another with an adult version of Newt in a pod. Marketing
The first teaser trailer was shown at Cinemacon in April 2018 and it was later released online on May 10, 2018. On June 26, 2018, a new The Predator trailer was released. On August 31, 2018, 20th Century Fox released the final trailer for The Predator.
Release
On February 28, 2015, Fox announced the release date as March 2, 2018 though this was later changed to February 9, 2018 to avoid clashing with monster shark movie Meg. In April 2017, Fox announced a new release date of August 3, 2018 for the movie, delaying it by six months. The Predator was delayed yet another time and was eventually released September 14, 2018. It had its premiere at TIFF in Toronto.
Sex Offender Controversy
Olivia Munn
Just hours before The Predator was due to premiere on September 6th, it was reported that 20th Century Fox had cut a scene out at the last minute featuring Steven Wilder Striegel who was a registered sex offender. L.A. Times reported it with statements from actress Olivia Munn, director Shane Black and 20th Century Fox. Fox stated they weren’t aware of Striegel’s background but Shane Black initially tried to defend Striegel, who was a friend of his. Later the same day, Black apologised and said he was ‘misled’ by a friend. Olivia Munn criticised Shane Black for casting him but thanked Fox for deleting the scene.
Munn also criticised her castmates for not giving her any support. On September 8th, The Predator cast members were scheduled to do interviews at TIFF to promote the film. Munn later said a number of them cancelled any interviews along side her and one even walked out of an interview when the deleted scene was mentioned. Olivia Munn said that none of her castmates had reached out to her and criticised them for making her feel like the bad guy. She did an interview with The Hollywood Reporter and she said she felt lonely sitting there by herself and Shane Black hadn’t spoken to her directly but appreciates his public apology.
As part of L.A. Times’ original report, they asked the other castmembers for statements but they refused. Munn said she had contacted them directly and encouraged them to make statements. None of them did but made some comments in the subsequent days. Olivia Munn, Trevante Rhodes and Augusto Aguilera did an video interview with L.A. Times. Rhodes and Aguilera said they weren’t disappointed in Black but more at the situation and thanked Olivia for speaking up. Munn said she didn’t accept Black’s apology because it wasn’t done to her personally.
The next day on September 8th, Keegan-Michael Key issued a statement and said that he wasn’t scheduled to do any interviews with Munn and that he’d reached out to her the previous week to say he was proud of her. Sterling K. Brown also issued a statement apologising to Munn and thanked Fox for deleting the scene. On September 10th. Boyd Holbrook apologised for being quiet but thanked Munn for speaking up. He said he did cancel press interviews on the previous Saturday because he didn’t want to cause any further pain to the victim.
On September 13th, the victim involved in Striegel’s crime came forward and identified herself. She thanked Munn for raising the situation. On September 17th, Jake Busey told Vanity Fair “I think it could’ve been done like a month from now, and let the studio and the director have their night of the release and the movie, and not destroy the movie over a discovery that was made a year after filming—and 10 years after the incident. I think the timing could have been better. The director was in tears at the red carpet, which is not really the way you want it to be. But it’s done, it’s put to bed.” Olivia Munn took to Twitter to criticise Vanity Fair for running the story with Jake Busey and said she wasn’t responsible for putting the story out publicly.
The deleted scene in question would have served as Casey Bracket’s introduction. Striegel played a jogger who bumps into Casey as she is with her dog.
Box Office
The Predator had a budget of $88M. In its first weekend, The Predator came out on top with $24 million domestically while overseas, it made $30.7 million for a worldwide total of $54.7 million. For comparison sake. 2010’s Predators made $24.7m in its opening weekend while AvP Requiem made $10m. They both went on to make around $128m worldwide. The bad news, both those movies were made for around $45m and The Predator cost $88m to make. The Predator ended up making $51M domestically and $109.5m overseas for a worldwide total of $160.5m.
Reception
The Predator currently has a 33% ‘Rotten’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 255 reviews. The film gained a mixed reception with critics. Many praised the characters and the relationships with each other and the film is very gory and graphic despite copious amounts of CGI blood. The film, however, falls apart in the final act – many reviewers said it was rushed, badly edited and the visual effects were poor. The new Upgrade Predator also doesn’t bring much to the table other than being bigger and stronger than a regular Predator.

Media Releases
The Predator was released on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD formats on December 18, 2018 in America and the UK. As the third act was reshot during the night, Shane Black wanted to include both versions of the media releases – Predator AM and Predator PM but Fox refused as they didn’t want to pay for the visual effects during the daytime version.
Merchandise
A novelization of The Predator, written by Christopher Golden and a prequel novelization called The Predator: Hunters And Hunted, written by James A. Moore were released shortly after the film came out. NECA released six figures in 2018/2019 based on the Predators seen in the film. Three Fugitives were released, an Assassin Predator and each of the Emissary Predators which were cut from the final film.

I think a cool idea for the avp series would be for the hunters to restore order cause if I can remember at the end of the second one the humans have the hunters gun an the only way to restore order is to have their guns back an maybe have arnie in it as Dutch of course an the cast from the expendables as Dutch’s special ops unit assisting the hunters remember enemy of my enemy is my friend an also we worshiped the hunters at one point in time the humans an the hunters know what will happens if the aliens over run things why not humans assist with the best special ops unit known to man

In the second Film the CIA was aware of the Predator, had a team assigned to monitor and capture.
They where wiped out in the second film by the predator but the study did not stop.
30 years later during a period of increased activity in the middle east, Afghan. The CIA become aware of the return of predator after reports of squads of SF being wiped out by unknown forces in a Green belt. Torra valley. TK province. They track Dutch down in some Mexican bar highly strung, in his room he has drawn pictures of the predator, pictures of his squad, dog tags hanging down off the mirror. Nightmares every night. loaded pistol by his bed. He is approached by the CIA, they explain whats going on. convince him for some payback/as an advisory.
On there way they are attacked by insurgents. Arnie(DUTCH) picks up a gun and says its been a while do u mind.. and kills a few insurgents. Finally make it out of that and get into the Green belt. They kit up with a new suit that covers heat signatures. They ab sale into a vast cave. They come across a ship with body’s strung up. some are still alive, these predators are torturing there captives. This is something new? The Squad doubles back out out of the cave and try make radio contact back to base. Big mistake, the communication is intercepted, the predators are able to track location. the Hunt is on,
Most of them are captured. legs and arms ripped off and made stable. they stop the bleeding of the captured.
Dutch figures out that they are not Torturing the captives but setting them up to be hosts for ALIENS.
the preds remove the legs and arms so they do not struggle. They finally bring eggs out for the hosts.
the Preds are monitoring the eggs planted into the human host. They are only after a Queen. So the ones that do not produce a Queen are killed while still in the host with enother plamsa cannon or knife etc.
Arnie (Dutch) has a fight with one of them, and managed to somehow win again. he cuts the arm off with the self destruct attached. he slings it behind his back and enters into the cave. his aim is to set it off.
During his sneak attempt the Queen is about to be born which has all the attention of the Preds.
They find Dutch sneaking up smack him around. he drops the self destruct arm. They force Dutch into a Circle. where he has a battle to the death with the main predator, after a massive flogging. Dutch is about to have his head removed as he is lying on the ground wit the shit flogged out of him. he looks over to one of the SF guys the one that has the Queen in him and starts Laughing and Yelling COME ON KILL ME! DO IT NOW!! COME ON!!! with only one arm the captive SF host has manged to activate the count down for the self destruct.
The Pred kills Dutch only to then see what he was looking at… just as the queen bursts out of the Captive Chest.. The Nuke goes off.. End of story….

really this new film has to have the same basic fundementals as the first 2 films, in the first film when dutch is speaking with the female hostage and she is crying saying ”it only hunts in the hottest of climates” hence the jungle in p1 and los angeles hottest year on record in p2, why has directors forget this in recent films?avp in the ice, predators normal conditions, i think a great story line is middle east remember predators only hunt in war areas..jungle, los angeles gangs, for me a middle east movie with dutch the veteran commando brought in to identify the new target and tell them how to kill it..”if it bleeds..we can kill it” how to become stealth with the mud, seriously could make an amazing film if they just stick to the basics

All good ideas, great even… I just dont think they should confuse predator the hunter as he was in the first classic with predator the worrior which is what he became in the AVP sarga and even in the predators movie. That worrior crap killed the excitement of that movie. He is not a worrior who fights wars! Or fights in general, that’s CRAP! He is a hunter, a skilled killer who trophy hunts as sport, who believes in the fair chase of the things he hunts just like in part 1. The biggest joke was in the new predators movie where they made the predators catch people and aliens and drop them off on a game reserve and they hunt them hahaha if that’s not the biggest joke out I don’t know what it. In the hunting world, hunting animals who have been put somewhere by humans weather it be a reserve or pen or what ever, means the animals have been man handled and it is no longer fair chase, this is what’s known as a “canned” hunt or “cage” hunt, “behind wire” usually reserved for ritch, fat people who are incapable of handling the bush and stalking game wild and free in the animals evironment because they aren’t real hunters… Well they maybe but for that particular hunt they are incaperble and lazy… And I ain’t knocking it, we are all guilty of a canned hunt at some point in our lives. But we are talking about a movie here where the original predator was all about the fair chase. Then to add insult to injery they came up with a ridicules new speacies of predator which looked so stupid it wasn’t funny that totally demoralized the original predator by decapitating him at the end of the movie. What an insult to the silent, stealthy, invisible creature from out of this world who hunted and killed an elite squad of commandos in part one! It’s truly embarrassing! The AVP saga was the worst by far, hunting was non exsistent in those dopey films. It was the padded up “football player” style stupid looking worriors arguing with those stupid looking aliens! Look… Change the films, roll in the ideas, do what you please BUT DO NOT change what the predator is! A hunter not a worrior, who trophy hunts and believes in the challenge of the hunt, who believes in fair chase and who is superior to anything here on earth. No “wolf” predator, no new speacies, just the stealthy hunter of part one. Part one and two were the only ones which captured this and what do you know, they were the best and most popular. The AVP’s where all as bad as the predators movie. The missing link is what iv just said, it’s proven! The AVP’s and the predators movie were all flunks! While the others had tremendous success. Wake up people!
This is my story for predator 4
A massively deadly super predator escapes from his homeland after killing and decapitating elder predators, he then escapes to planet earth but he is injured during the process, the year is 1945 during a bloddy fight between germans and russian close to a russian villa, when the deadly super predator meets with the Nazi SS a bloody massacre is done,during this massacre a gruop of 4 predators are sent to kill the super predator leaving a bloody mess behind!!!!!
For a good plot, the next movie should be based on what happened to John Hopper and his crew before Dutch and his team got there in the 1st movie. Base the storyline on what led up to the fire fight, helicopter stuck up the trees, etc.
I always wanted to see Predator make a cameo appearance in Star Wars. Maybe have him in the back ground holding a guy up against the wall in a slum bar or be a bounty hunter like bobo fed.

The original was always a favorite for me when others that followed seemed to let the franchise down a little. That was, until the release of Predators in 2010. Watching this (Predators) sent the original for me into a close second place.
Adrien Brody was awesome! … I believe bringing Arnie back would do more harm than good. He’s too old now for this type of role. Without any disrespect to he (A.S) .. It would be somewhat like sending pensioners into war.
1) Keep it to the Alien hunting planet.

3) Re-sign Alice Braga (Isabelle)
4) Re-sign Louis Ozawa Changchien (Hanzo) whom we never really knew to die. That scene with the Samuari sword and the Yakuza ink, was surely a highlight. Another great character!
Whomever you sign and whatever the script … Do make it for the fans, and do make it special.

How about Dutch has been apart of the Alien Intelligence since the first Predator movie and has gathered after math information to increase progress on technology and human ability for a stronger healthier life. Dutch has been given a second life and become a Ambassador for the Human race and the Predator alien race, to show the Predator aliens to choose the killers for their selection of challenge for combative tactics and clean the human planet from the killers and increase them allied soldiers to insure order and balance. Sense Dutch is an Ambassador, his responsibilities are to over see the abductions, communicate with the Predator aliens, and visit the Game Planet to understand and brief up new information on changes to increase there skills and also Dutch takes part in the weapon gifting to the survivors for warrior respective and that’s where Isabella and Royce learn about the human connection and feel resentment about there terrible experience from being chosen and Dutch possibly proving his place of authority to Royce with stronger ability’s for combative authority as Ambassador. I have been a predator fan from the age of 4, I’m now 30. I wish I could write the predator 4 script. For some reason after predator 2 the franchise lost the most important part of the the movie, the esssance of the the movie if you like. I have been a big game hunter most of my life and the thing that captivated me about predator 1 & 2 was the fact that the predator was a big game hunter who planed a hunt on a planet to succeed in taking the best of a particular species, just like we as hunters book hunts over seas to Africa or north America to essentially return home and adorn our walls with the trophies we have worked so hard for. this is what part 1 and 2 offered, no alien vs alien crap or new speacies of predator, just THE predator on a big game hunt. Like we humans who chase that elusive buck that slips away year after year so should be the predator in part 4 chasing after the two top ranking trophies Dutch (played by Arnie) and Harrigan (played by Danny). On the way the predator should be selective and pass up quality trophies eg high ranking militants, government workers ect but also take some other worthy trophies on his quest for the two important ones, perhaps a persistent cop or the head of a CIA organization who are onto the predator. Another tip is that, visually the predator should remain slim and tall as close to Kevin Peterhall as possible with the same sleak movements as he had, not bulky, over done and padded up football player style things as in the AVP sarga, they just looked silly. Predators face mask should also resemble the one from part 1 perhaps a few added scars to show a seasoned and veteran hunter. The trophy room of the predator should also be shown at some point, similar to part 2 with whitned skulls of a multitude of different alien and human speacies. Two settings should be used, a remote forested farm style area where Dutch resides as a retired ex commando and a high end city apartment block where Harrigan has also retired to. I have a huge array of ideas that will garantee the best predator film of all time. please don’t leave us fans hanging. i have the collection from the first, 2, avp avpr, preditors, i watch these movies every single week before bed. like bigfoot i wish these were real ahhaha. but again please make a new one so i can gladly buy it and watch it again and again. i don’t care who makes it. its time for a new one ive waited so come on. i even have ideas about this.
ha why not make a predator that starts from the last ending then comesto earth, then has to deal with the war, then this time lives maybe. wish i could write this movie it would be a never ending story that’s for sure as for who makes it, that don’t matter its a great film no matter what #1 fan tdawg.

I would like to see the next predators movie start from where it left off at and add someone like the rock, randy orton, Hugh Jackman or Michael Jai white hell Jason stathem. I’d like to see a Predator movie set in Medieval Japan. Where a Predator battles a Kensai in the end. I’d make it all in Japanese of course.
I can imagine a Predator where the Predators snatch up all of the different “survivors” from recent times AND from past times. So you’d have Dutch and Harigan admixed with other warriors from past times, all collected and showcased on an alien planet. May the best warrior win!

PREDATOR 3 : story should start back in the jungle ,predator is slaughtering a local gang of bad guys . an elite team go in to hunt the predator , advised(even lead) by dutch ;arnie ;. they also go to get advise from harrigan ;glover; ( also may go in too ) after loss of men and good action the predator is captured and taken to New York for study. I want the rock, Gerard Butler, and/or vin Diesel as the main character ideally.. Any of those could play a great navy SEAL or special forces character. My first choice would be a sequel where there’s a predator landing detected and they try to hunt IT! He comes in on a pod that lands on a tropical island or in the jungle and from here it goes into more of the predator’s point of view and the screen shows the predator doing things more by itself. Like show him doing amazing maneuvers around trees and showing how his camo works and stuff like that. If you have a crappy cast again like in predators, you could make the predator the main focus and make him like the good guy and the humans the bad guys. AVP was by far the best predator movie besides the original and it’s cause we got some of the predator’s point of view and a hard core fun fight (even though we wish the predator won). It showed their bad ass strength, stealth, fighting skills, amazing reflexes. It also showed the best views of the predator. We need to get into the incredible nature of the predator and a navy seal team with cool exoskeletons to try to match him, think day after tomorrow. Per usual, you have a first team go in that gets slaughtered but use the fun predator point of view to showcase his awesome abilities, mostly in a costume suit! Not so much cgi. Then they call in the elite exoskeleton crew of a few elite and that’s where the good fight is.
Main points are, much more predator point of view and clear shots of him, demonstration of the incredible strength and fighting skill, and we try to hunt him. With at least one hard core hand to hand fight. (which makes sense if they have at least one exoskeleton. Imagine the rock throwing on their experimental exoskeleton for the final fight and getting thrown through a few small trees before exploding into a big one. Oh yes.) or have a few of them without the rock in exoskeletons fight him and he takes on them all killing a couple before escaping, demonstrating Dwayne’s strength when he finally goes against him 1v1. This is a crazy win and would give the people the predator movie they deserve. Think about it, no even knew about “the guardians of the galaxy” before the movie just came out and it was a hit. People don’t know what they want till they see it and bad ass sells.
With all these amazing super hero movies lately, that’s the best part, you know from iron man 3.
Predator 1 has been the best one so far I have seen it more the 20 times I’m not jockeying. If they keep the same line, the movie will be a success, obviously it has to be update with the new technology and new characters but Arnold has to be on this movie no doubt about it.

I love scfi movies predators was an awwful movie it just was just stupid for humans to be captured on earth to then be a blood sport for humans to servive aww predator 1 awsome predator 2 awsome I even think the first alien predator was a bit cheesy 2 predators wiped out in a matter on mins when the aliens got released ,I think they should got in to real depth with the next pred films with the detail of alien films and promethus graphics and space time awsome every alien film made awsome the storyline was great and even from number one it never faded throughout the following 4 movies and promethus the people creating the next movie need to add depth in to it with a great storyline with awsome visuals and a gd length movie not just an hour and a half by the time u get past an hour ur just getting drawn into the movie then the last 30 mins everyone dies and end of film all scfi films in our generation should now be just as gd as promethus if not better ,even aliens ver pred 2 was gd but the battle ended up in a hospital with was a bit stupid they could have made that a lot better and maybe got special ops in to hunt everything down and go in to real detail and even the last battle on the hospital roof was gd for 2 mins then a bomb lands and kills everything I do think sometimes that if directors want to create a great movie maybe take a leaf out of Ridley Scott his films are awsome even Peter Jackson so scfi writers and directors get your thinking caps on and bring scfi back to its best .
I believe as fans we need to see how the predator thinks and the reasons behind their actions. It would be nice to get an insight in their history and language and other races that they have battled including wars between themselves. What about the space jockies? It showed a space jockey skull on one of their ships in avp2
I think the continuation is excellent there is so much untapped potential there. A reboot would be stupid. What would be the reboot predator learning how to fly a damm ship Learning some of the history and feud on there planet and y is it important. No Arnold or Danny let those movies be in the past and also super upgrade there armor and shit new weapons those weapons they have now are pretty lame now I don’t want them to think like human they are warriors
I think a sequal shoul have Schwarzenegger “Dutch” and Glover in it. Just as they are today older-retired-probley very perriond. Running into each other on a relaxing getaway. As story unfolds they are being hunted by “2” big lord predators out for revenge. Should be filmed in alittle harsh enviorment say south Florida around everglades real hot, real wet maybe throw in a hurricane? Have the chick from avp fit in somewhere. KEEP the gore real keep the suspence high and action non stop. And all around good cast and youll have alot of happy fans!
There’s so many possibilities with the a v p franchise as well as the predators, I think for starters it would be great if most of the movie takes place in space showing the origin of the aliens/ xenomorphs and there creator’s the spacejockies.creating them for the sole purpose of contamination and anialating the human race that they started but went wrong by self destructive behaviour among races and cultures. I think it would be great to pay homage to fact findings from all the film’s ,example ,mutilated cattle,the predators taste for beef,noted by Gary busey’s character , earthly findings like cropcirles, ancient hieroglyphs ,Vietnam’s human trophies, and area fucking 51 plausible deniability. Lets introduce a female predator,she’s revered by all clans,Hunter elite,bigger,meaner,and more amphibious.she wipes out legions of rival clans as well as aliens.her primary objective is to mate because of depleted yautja clans.let’s go back to what’s now known as modern day Jamaica,hunting and mating with a primitive race and later changing /evolving their look,ala the dreadlocks.we should also introduce an alien cloaked in human form,she’s hunting and mating a real bad bitch ,ala species like character.this movie should also show how there technology have advanced,as noted by Gary busey’s character they had power to wipe five hundred city blocks,remarkable weaponry.this movie should reflect depleted earthly resources and apocalyptic urgency and elder ceremonies passing there torches to new clan leaders, to anialate the human race because we’re shit,destructive and selfish.we’re all gonna die
So so much could be done without blowing £150 mil why can’t we have what we all want to see humans by the truck load attacking the predators with other groups of predators I think they should show more of how an what tech they have an see them hunting things from other planets
