Predator Easter Egg Found in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

There’s something in those trees…

The new installment to the Call of Duty video game franchise: ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare,’ which is a reboot of the Modern Warfare series, launched a few weeks back to massive sales figures and strong critical reception. As a long time Call of Duty fan myself, I’ve been immensely enjoying this return to form for a series that has gotten stale for me in recent years.

We were surprised to see on Twitter that a Predator Easter egg was discovered in the game’s ‘Hill’ multiplayer map for the ‘Gunfight’ mode. This is courtesy of Twitter user @MWModernWarfare who apparently obtained it from Reddit user u/yp261.

That certainly seems to be a cloaked Predator looking down on you from the trees across the ravine. I checked it out myself to get a better look, as you can see in our video below.

The Predator can be seen by looking southwest at the edge of the map, at around 150 degrees.

The developer for the game, Infinity Ward, has history with the Predator, as it was featured in the ‘Devastation‘ DLC for their 2013 title: Call of Duty: Ghosts. In that game, as part of a map set in jungle ruins, players could earn the ability to play as the Predator via field-order. This was the first video-game guest appearance of the Predator, but we’d later see him show up Mortal Kombat X, and Ghost Recon: Wildlands.

While this is likely just a nod to Infinity Ward’s previous work, we can always be hopeful that they may be teasing yet another guest appearance by the Predator in Modern Warfare down the road.

Regardless, we’re definitely going to be graced with the Predator’s presence in the upcoming PlayStation title: ‘Predator: Hunting Grounds‘ by Illfonic. Recently our own Corporal Hicks was able to try a few rounds of that game for himself at EuroGamer Expo 2019. Check out his impressions here.

Psykore you may be right, at this point in the series I say a major developer might be what we need for an avp game. Or any alien/predator, open world game.
Follow avp 2's combat system and make a bunch of new features.
But to be honest I'd be weary of how much money they would expect to make.
An open world predator game would be amazing, and I think would sell very well. But as good as they want it to? That's the question.
Let's see what happens with the next alien console game that's to be released soon.
Those sales do great and we get a solid long-lifed game, we may get a major developer to tackle a stand-alone predator game.
