Collectible producers NECA and Prime 1 Studio have both made an Alien Day announcement on their social channels that they are working on merchandise for the upcoming Alien: Romulus.
The companies have each released teaser videos for their future offerings which you can view below!
Prime 1:
NECA:
The teasers don’t show much really so we don’t really know what these figures and statues will be yet. We expect to see more around the release of the film. There is a quick flash in the Prime 1 video that appears to be facehugger fingers so perhaps that will be their upcoming statue.
In other collectible news, NECA has also announced a new variant of their Feral Predator from Prey. This one started appearing on Target store shelves before they revealed it. This version recreates the look of the cloaked Predator covered in blood after its bear kill in the film.

When I saw the Scorched practical puppet in person, I could clearly see the skull beneath the dome. So I'm assuming NECA is going off of what they scanned from he puppet, and saw what I saw.

Relax. It's still not right.
That accessory that is next to it is really making me excited for the movie!

I like the lanky look they're going with.
how so.
Hmm, I see what you mean. Still, doesn't bother me. Idk, maybe it's just a case of me being a filthy casual
That could be the sculptor given the project very last minute and having a short deadline while having to get out 15 other sculpts in the same timeline. Not trying to defend NECA or anything here, just that there are many factors that could lead to the issues you speak of. Most companies have their own little issues like this, but there's always a reason. Humans can make mistakes at times. If possible, they are scanning the actual suits at times, so it could have been the suit that was mismatched and not symmetrical. But could you give examples of the exact figures that have these issues for my clarity?
I think that prototype looks really good tho actually. Can't wait to add to the collection.
I'm talking about the sculpts, not the release products.
Depends whether you're expecting the fidelity and definition of resin or simply things being symmetrical/the right shape.
Very rarely do the final products end up looking just like the resin prototypes. As the plastic moulds can't hold as much detail as the sculpted resin prototypes can. No company ever has 100% accuracy to from their prototype to actual public release of a figure. And also expecting 100% accuracy on a $40-$50 figure is incredibly unrealistic.
I mean, it probably is a separate piece just sitting there for now.
Even for a prototype, it still looks good.
Why ? Looks fine to me
They probably edited the tubes on the magazine cover so the alien wouldn't hide to much of the title, since the head already covers a big chunk.

Good, that means it should be detailed quite well and have accurate proportions to the puppet at least. The possibility of better proportions is what excites me the most. Hope this figure will be one of their best Alien ones.
I have not, but had been told a few months ago that the Xeno was 3D scanned at Legacy Effects by NECA to start sculpting the figure.
