Gamespot has released the newest Aliens: Colonial Marines trailer in which Sega and Gearbox Software reveal the new competitive multiplayer mode ‘Escape’. The video also reveals a new type of xenomorph called the Spitter.
“Escape sees a team of four Colonial Marines fighting through a series of areas to secure a safe exit while an opposing team of four Xenomorphs attempts to stop them at every twist and turn, and will be playable on the PAX Prime show floor this weekend.” Gearbox said.
You can watch the trailer below or download it here.
Still looking forward to the game, but just the single/coop-mode so far. The multiplayer aspect doesn't do it for me :/
I'm not, I was just saying that in reply to Enigma who I thought was annoyed.
I believe it's Evacuation.
Oh, I'm all for dynamic game play, and from that point of view I can appreciate that they put in different classes. My grief lies in all this talk about the game being cannon. It's been discused alot as it is, but when they invent new breeds of aliens, purely for the ballance of the game or to sell the game to L4D players... and not for the sake of the story... then...I'm not really interested.
If they manage to incorporate the new breeds in the story, in an interesting way, then I'm all for it
This, the Mode in AVP2, I forget what it's called, and VS Mode in L4D, but I'm not bothered by it. It's a fun game mode, and I am looking forward to it in ACM. Also, I'm happy that they have multiple classes of Xenos. More dynamic gameplay.
In the film it seemed that any door was 'weldable'. And those that weren't opened via motion sensors. Except when there's no power and they need to be manually slid open.
Personally, I liked this trailer quite a bit.
More of this is what I want in my Colonial Marines. Frantic team work scenarios. It's something the ALIENS games have needed more of. That sense of being these marines in survival situations.
Logic tells you, "then why not make those doors out of ply wood".
The only thing that could possibly break them would be the crusher.
all in all who cares?
my point is... shabang a bang.
But... if there's weldable doors, does that mean aliens can break through or open them when they're not welded? If I can ram a door as an alien, I will be willing to overlook much of what has been witnessed during this difficult production.
If maps suck, multiplayer game life probably suck . Killed AvP 2010, even before the DLC had a chance to really kick in. I thought some of the DLC maps were great, but just too little too late, and SEGA didn't help things.
...wait, are you telling me this is an Aliens game?
Actually I'm really looking forward to this game, it's just that the alien classes feels of. Every time we've seen multiple aliens in a movie they've been of the same breed. the predalien, the runner and the newborn are all unique (and fairly uninteresting) creatures. I'd rather see them in the single player/coop -campaign as "bosses" than playable characters in multiplayer. there you'll be facing them every single time... not very unique any more.
Just my thoughts
Concept art with the xenos being in a WY stasis pod lab?
Won't explain why the f**king colony is still around from the damn blast, but that's for another post.
they should at least look mechanic, not plant-like.
@SpaceMarines: I've never read the books myself but I've heard good things. I started with Fire Warrior on the PS2, then moved to the Dawn of War RTS PC games, and a good few months ago I joined the Ultramarines Chapter (clan) for Warhammer 40K Space Marine on the PS3.

No problem, man. Sorry to disappoint you, though, my name has nothing to do with WH40K, merely the concept of a "space marine" in general. Although I have been interested in getting into it, simply intimidated by the sheer size of it all; I have heard the Horus Heresy is a good place to start, though.
Well, nothing wrong with that.
Oh, definitely. I find this the most with the Winston Aliens. Look fantastic in the film with the right lighting, not so good out of that.
I think your answer supports my second point though; lighting can make the xenos look very different depending on how dim the environment is, and I suspect that's the case with the greenish hue of the Lurker's shoulder tubes.
Hoping they iron out that smartgun sound though - avp2010 all over again.
No, it always had the translucent cowl. The lighting in the film made it look opaque, though.

I don't recall the original Giger Alien from the first movie ("Kane's son") as having a translucent cranial shell showing us a skull shape beneath? I'm pretty sure the first to do such a thing was a few interpretations in model-form, and the Pred-Alien. Didn't Kane have a smooth, black cranium?
@Sexy Poot: I'm pretty sure the greenish glow on the lurker's shoulder tubes are a result of intense lighting made to give us a view through the translucent shell of the lurker's head. You can see the bright light glinting off Mr. Lurker's head and shoulders in both cases - I'd say that glow would be hardly visible in the standard dimly-lit environments.
One thang I noticed: The pulse rifles have LED round counters on BOTH sides of the gun. Hmmmmm......
THIS
Lol pretty much. It's just easier to explain this way.

That said, i think the spitter (hate the name) would be kinda cool if the acid bags would be dark green almost body coloured while the xenomorph is not attacking. Glowing would commence as soon as player touches the attack button. Longer the button hold duration, deadlier the attack, predator shoulder cannon style. Quick push withalmost no glow and very weak attack, long push results instant kill. The way i see it spitters should be especially well camouflaged and when a marine sights ominous glow from the dark he has to react instantly or he's history.

The aliens in Rez and AvP also have a subtle ridged design under the translucent dome.
So far though, the only aliens with actual skulls beneath are Kane's son, and....sigh...the Predalien.
