It's interesting, though it seems like maybe you move slower in "Runner stance" than in normal? In which case it could make it hard to catch up to and hit survivors in certain circumstances.

Everything's live on the PTB though, so anyone who owns Dead by Daylight on PC can try it out now.

Yeah Dead by Daylight doesn't really do "realistic" locations in the sense of trying to make them actually look like a real place with an appropriate layout. Their whole thing is that you're trapped in "the Entity's realm" and it's recreated these places from survivor's memories and stuff, so they're always a bit abstract (for gameplay purposes) rather than one to one accurate recreations of whatever general or specific idea they're based on.

Honestly that's why I was so surprised that the RPD map is so accurate to the Resident Evil 2 remake, albeit with a lot of destroyed walls. But in the case of the Nostromo, I'd imagine it's just going to be a lot of themed corridors with one or two "main" rooms, like the lunch room we saw in the CG teaser and maybe one or two other bigger areas.

Curious to see how they handle the layout of the Nostromo compared to Alien: Isolation.

There's the layout we see in the movie, and ridley's doodles of B and C deck layouts, but it will probably be modified heavily to be more gamey.

The Stranger Things stuff is the only time they've lost a major licence in the game, and that seems to be entirely due to Netflix wanting to branch out and do gaming stuff on their own and apparently not being fans of easy money. So I highly doubt the same situation would happen with Alien.

The roadmap they put out a few months ago said we'd be getting a new killer and survivor in August. And given that everything shows up on the PTB first (Public Test Build) before being released about three weeks later, we should get our first look at all the new stuff next Tuesday, with a release most likely on August 29th.

Quote from: PAS Spinelli on Aug 04, 2023, 11:24:18 AMBHVR said a ST like situation will never happen again due to the way they do license deals now

    Meaning it won't be limited?
Their licensed chapter contracts will ensure that no chapter ever leaves DBD again, tho I'm not sure when they started the new contracts, but I know Alien for sure will fall under it

    That's good to know
I would have liked to grab the stranger things one but I ain't paying $350 for the physical copy just to get it lol
Don't want to end up in the same boat with alien if I don't grab it right away...

Yea I saw that stranger things edition. Apparently that's the only way to get that now; to buy the physical copy which I saw going for $350 on Amazon... yikes! I hope alien doesn't have a limited availability like that. And I'm hoping it does get a physical release too...

I'd say it's very unlikely. They've had many big name chapters in the past without boxed releases.
    Actually

Hope it'll cocoon survivors, instead of hooking them. 8)

Also looking forward to the ridge-headed design as an alternative appearance, if they do that. If they don't, it'll be a missed opportunity.

Its my opinion. dare i speak it? I love the trailer though. Its absolutely professionally made. And little Jonesy is especially cool to see.

I just know for a fact DbD content comes out hokey. I do hope there is something better in store for the Alien dlc.

Not in the "game is so scarey and power tripping awesome cringe" but damn , why do you think that it will be any good made me cringe. Much like, why do people still want to mod alien games without a credible ounce of artistic skill type of cringe.
Bud, the only cringe thing here is your attitude.

I stopped playing DbD due to lack of variety. I mean it's not lacking in variety in terms of characters and killers, but each map, to me, is essentially the same thing over and over; fix the generators and escape. Don't get me wrong, the game is fun in short bursts but it gets boring very quickly. I would just like different goals, like really change it up now and then.

Granted, they might be using an identical map from isolation since their Resident Evil DLC had the same map from one of the games but its horribly lit.
We are all very aware this in for Dead By Daylight, we have been discussing the possible inclusion of Alien in it for the past 6 months

That did not work well for Predator

Hey, Hunting Grounds kept me around a lot longer than Fireteam Elite. It just lacks a constant flow of content and variety.

Luckily since Alien is one of those franchises where every entry has only ever been made by the same studio I'd say there's a good chance they should be able to get some Alien 3 Runner customisation options in there. It's not like Halloween or Texas Chainsaw Massacre where a bunch of movies were made by different studios so they don't have the rights to certain looks. So hopefully with Alien they'll be able to do as much as they like.

    It finally happened!

With all the big hints that had been lining up, it was more than likely either going to be Alien or Jason Voorhees that came with this update, since Behaviour said this and the next one would be big licences, and Alien is about the biggest horror icon not already in the game. So this is great!

They've already confirmed this chapter is going to feature a killer and survivor, so it's likely we'll get Ripley with this too; and a Nostromo/Hadley's Hope mash-up map too potentially, by the looks of it!

The only downside is I already spent half my auric cells on Nicholas Cage! Oh well, guess I'll just have to use moneypoints for this when it comes out later this month.
