Wow what an interesting interview! Fantastic job fellas! So many things that I wish could've been but hopefully one day Mr. Briggs gets one of his A/P/AVP projects fully realized.

Great pod guys, really good interview. Alot of good info and Peter Briggs sounds like a nice guy and a big fan.

"The Alien films are about the Alien, not about Ripley"

Awesome, totally agree. Some cool ideas being thrown around.

is the powell script for alien 2 a well known thing?  first time i have heard this . and with goo.

It's not too well known that Powell did something - but it's something he talked about before. Like I mentioned in the episode, I'd always been under the impression it was a prequel rather than a sequel. I wrote about it in my Alien 2's that never were article.

QuoteIn fact, Ivor himself had written a 30/40 page treatment for an Alien prequel that would have explored more of the Space Jockey and the distinctly Gigeresque elements of the Alien universe. Speaking alongside Alien & Alien 3 editor Terry Rawlings at a special screening of Alien at the Genesis Cinema in August of 2014, Powell revealed a little about his treatment for an Alien prequel:

"I remember writing a thirty, forty page sort of thing, based on the prequel, because that's the sort of thing that I found absolutely fascinating about was all Giger's. There were a lot of things that you never saw in Alien.

There was the entrance to the derelict ship, and there were these sort of hieroglyphics and things like that. He [Giger] did at a certain sort of Egyptian / sort of galactic sort of alien background, and none of these things got seen, but all that fascinated me.

And I think that the little sort of bit of speech that the robot Ash gives about what this creature's about that I just found really fascinating. And what was the Space Jockey? Where did he come from and all that? I know some of it got vaguely explained in Prometheus but for me it didn't touch it at all."

Quoteso briggs is also on the that the engineers and jockey are 2 different things bandwagon . as am i . i hope one day Cdl directs a briggs written scripts about just such a story.

It's the easiest way to get out of the Prometheus retcon!

    Quotethanks a great podcast

    Thank you!  :)

Completely agree with Glaive here - that was a fantastic interview. Hicks, I applaud your determination to get this guy on the show. Bravo

Peter seems to be such a cool, down-to-earth guy and definetly well versed in the franchise. Bravo to him for wasting 2 hours of his life on us, nerds

It was actually Eric that got him on the show! But it's one of those funny ones where I've known Peter for so long, but was just never something that came up. Glad he finally came on and talked to us though! Was a really enjoyable record.

QuoteAnd one other thing I've discovered recently - AvPGalaxy Podcasts mix extremely well with me playing Isolation. I recommend everybody trying it out lol  ;D

Well, whatever the excuse, just listen to us!  :P

Man, I'm so happy he brought up Celtic smashing Alien's head against pillars 'cause for me it's the most memorable thing from AVP 2004.
