The Predator Returns to Vancouver For Two Days of Filming

Despite filming some lengthy reshoots earlier in the year, it appears The Predator is going back in front of the camera for two days of additional filming in Vancouver. The filming takes place on the weekend of 28th/29th July according to Production Weekly (via YVRShoots).

It most likely will be minor pickup shots – maybe to make the editing of the film a little better in certain places. There’s a very small chance, however, it could be a cameo scene, perhaps in a post-credits sequence. Now, a cameo from none other than Arnold Schwarzengger as Dutch Schaefer springs to mind. After all, he did have a cameo in the original script but Arnie openly said last year that he wouldn’t do it because his role was so minimal. It’s a possibility that it could be a cameo from another character in the Predator or even the Alien vs Predator series.

Or perhaps a tie in to Weyland-Yutani might be on the cards like we had at the end of AvP Requiem. Given that John Davis just said that The Predator sets up more sequels, it could be a lead off to one of them. What do you guys think it could be? Could Dutch make an appearance?

Thanks to ace3g for the news.

I don't think anybody from the cast is there, from the looks of it, they are just amping up the action a bit maybe adding a couple of other Predator related items, that's why Studio ADI is there too. Could just be for some gory practical effects though.

There is only so much you can do in two days.

Also, Black has to finish the cut on August 18th and wrap the movie. That's when it will get ready for worldwide release, dubbing etc.

If they still aren't happy with the movie, the train has left the station now.

True that. All this last minute stuff is interesting. Not sure how normal it is in the movie making business, but it seems like these little bursts of filming should have been completed a while ago. Unless this is standard filming and I just have never been aware.

Studio ADI is involved in the reshoots, so i guess it features the practical Predator. They are also at Mammoth Studios again, so they build sets for this.

Also, seems like there are really reshoots happening rather than something new.

Yeah most of his movies are mediocre at best. He's got that great personality and attitude towards life that it's hard not to like him and I think that's what also gets asses in theater seats. If I heard he were starring in a Predator movie though, I would hope the right director would be involved as well as hope that his character wouldn't be written as a carbon copy of Dutch... which I could see happening all too easily.

After I saw M:I 6, I think Henry Cavill is the real successor of Arnold.

Henry has everything for king of action movies: face, body, charisma, muscles, charm, etc....

Umm he has my vote. Seriously, can we seal the deal and have him get shirless and roughed up by a Predator?

He showed a wider range of emotions in the movie Snitch, and was very convincing IMO. I think he actually got some good acting chops, when he decides to do a good movie lol

The problem is his movies are very bad. I hated Skyscraper. The worst Die Hard I ever saw. Even Vin Diesel and Jason Statham has better movies than The Rock.

I refuse to believe anything is worse than A Good Day to Die Hard, but yeah, I'd rather not Dwayne Johnson. Henry Cavill on the other hand I like the idea of.

I don't remember a time when the Rock wasn't just...the way he is now. I mean, I end up liking most of his movies, but he's always been somewhat of a, I don't even know how to put it, less intense actor? For sure he has the brawn to pull it off though.

The Rock would be a logical fit for the Predator franchise. Especially if we were talking Rock when he first started getting into the movie business. Getting the torch passed to him by Schwarzenegger I honestly expected him to do a Terminator film (there were rumors of him being in Salvation at one point) and a Predator film.

This film is not capturing the eyes it needs for it to become an event film Shane Black once said. Look how its tracking online ? Great actors involved yes but no stars, unless they plan to pull an expendables scenario and sell the film on a cameo ( Willis and Arnold were barley in the original The Expendables film and that scene got people to the theatres ) which is I suppose a possibility regarding 2 days extra filming, they better hope 3D in China sells well.

Seems quite popular to me. Lots of trailer views, cool posters, decent second trailer. Like what do you want a ton 50 million Predator movie? Not going to happen unless it's got the Rock in it.

There's still another 2 months for the marketing to go full-on and from the sounds of it, aside from some side-tracked discussion at SDCC, the footage and on topic discussion went down really well at SDCC. We'll see. I hope they manage to really push it out in the next few months.

It's most likely for a few more pick-ups given the frequency of the recent test screenings. I don't think we'll see Arnie in this - just doesn't seem like he's interested in only a couple of days work.

I find this excessive.  I like the idea that as things marinate together, more ideas arise...though very soon it's got to be pencils down.  Pacing must be decent at this point.  Hoping Henry has awesome score

Reshoots again!!?. I really like the way they cared this film to make it hit.
Hope it will be released on the announcd date. Cant wait any more....

Regarding any cameos, I've thought for a long time that one way of linking the film to Predators would be Dutch appearing in charge of OWLF after having wrestled control from Keyes' men and opting for a more militant approach to Pred incursions.

Camera cuts to him, with someone saying is this him?

Cut to a pic of Royce

"Yeah.... Poncho's kid..." (Always thought there was a resemblance - even down to the look of their weapons etc.).

Voice says "He's been taken, sir...."

It wouldn't have to be Dutch, but he'd be ideal for the Poncho link.

But basically, whoever's in charge of Stargazer/The military or w/e, basically Royce was their man.

Not sure about Royce beeing the son of Poncho. I mean yeh they kind of look similer, but Poncho didn't play big role for Predator, and Royce being the son of Poncho, and be connected with Predators the same way his father was kind of too much.

The Keys connection is logical, the kid decides to go by the steps of the father, and father purposely was hunting predator, so son decides to do the same.

But I do wish to see Mike Harrigan again, ven more then Dutch, if they going to put Danny Glover again in Predator movie and not kill him, I would be the happy person   ;D

I'm with you there.  I'd love to have Royce back.  It'd be great to have them in a sequel, with them finding their way back to Earth on a Predator ship - but him in his own right and not with some sort of connection to another character.  I think his story, and that of Isabel, is strong enough to carry itself on its own without tying in to the previous movies in that way.  Ultimately, I'd prefer it if there weren't any cameos.  If there was one, probably the only one I'd look forward to would be Harrigan - because it's Harrigan.

Honestly, i don't want to see a cameo from either Arnie or Glover. I don't mind having there characters mentioned, but i really hope to god they don't appear in the film. It would just feel cheesy i reckon, we don't need those characters coming back like really what can they do, what benefits can they really offer this far in the timeline. I hope they are not included.

Set up for a potential sequel might be a bad idea as well, Don't want to have an open ending because hell what if the film does REALLY bad, game over. I don't know its 11pm i've had a few to drink and in a grumpy mood state. I don't want them to F up this franchise man i love it too much Predator was my childhood film at 5 years of age, now 33. COME N GET US MOTHER FU@@KER, can't wait.
