The scene where Grant waves down the Rex with flare...tell me that didn't make you quiver in fear after hearing that roar echo.

Excellent part. You even see Grant taken aback by it for a brief moment.

God damn it! I need to get a Blu-Ray player....NOW!

I just don't want to replace ALL my favorite movies (I probably will end up doing this if I do get a Blu ray player).  I feel like I won't watch the DVDs anymore  :'(

You won't regret buying. Just buy a couple of your favourite films, it's like watching them for the first time again.

I believe you.  :)

Never saw this footage before. Some great Raptor running practical effects.

I would have given my teeth to have something like this in my dinosaur movie!

Yeah, that's definately from The Lost World, not JPIII.  Pretty interesting practical use; very realistic.

You can tell the guy running from it was actually scared.

Nice bit of new T-Rex rehearsal footage from the first film, courtesy of the Stan Winston School of Character Arts:

Happy I went back a few pages to see this... incredible. It's movement is so fluid and it's presence is so intimidating. I'd be genuinely scared of that shit.

Those are all fantastic. Always found the Compsognathus a really sweet piece of nano-machinery. It sure takes a lot of craftsmanship to insert the minuscule mechanism that allowed its eyes to blink.
The Raptors from The Lost World are wondrous. Always been my favourites out of the three films.
The Pteranodon suit was actually used in just... 2 or 3 shots when the Pteranodon walks in the cage corridors. Though I love it, I can see why they did not use it extensively, as how the feet touch the ground doesn't click with me.

How precise the puppetry of the compsognathus is just blows my mind. I swear, I just have to block out the wires and the briefly shown hands and it's damn-near a real creature. Just how it goes with these amazing animatronics. Truly the greatest form of creature creation.

I absolutely agree. The result in the final film is wondrous. I love the shot of that little Creeper approaching Cathy and looking up.
They even managed to put pumps inside it to give the impression it was breathing (Harryhausen previously used a similar trick to make his stop-motion creation 'breathe' -- only he used a Sphygmomanometer. I don't think it's the same device used here of course, but the idea is indeed similar) -- and the detail was so well crafted you can see its ribs when it expires (evident just before Dieter Stark hits one with his electric device thing). Astounding.

"There haven't been any visitors on this island. It has no reason to fear man."
BZZZZT-
"Now it does."

I'm sure THAT got the sphygmomanothingymajiggit going!

Am I the only one who hated the animatronics in TLW? I mean they used it so wonderful in Jurassic Park but in TLW they look too clunky and barely move, the stegasaurus and baby T rex were the worst imho, they look good in pictures but on video not so much and I think they felt compelled to still use them and maybe overuse them for SWS sake...

I always wanted to see a Gigantosaurus, it's close to a Rex, and I added a sabretooth ;-)

and the Pteranodons attacking helikopters was abandoned twice (The Lost World & JPIII)

Did you draw those? Because they're pretty awesome.
