Not something I find promising.

That's fair.

But your wording here absolutely is not fair.

The Cruentus

It is when people imply that just being on this site means we all have to be drones that will go see the movie in cinema. not all fans are sheep.

But at the same time it's not exactly an unreasonable assumption to make saying people who frequent an Alien fan site, post almost daily in a forum about an upcoming movie, will then go and watch said movie.

It's not character assassination. People need to just chill.

The Cruentus

An assumption is still an assumption though and it is unfair to categorize everyone as the same just because they are fans. Not all fans are the same. Some are rational, others can be quite fanatic. We are a varied bunch.

Will folks watch it? maybe, but will they pay to see? not everyone will.

Which is perfectly fine and I agree not everyone is the same, but it's still absolutely nothing to get upset about. You are a fan, posting on a fan site in a thread about the new film, so someone else assumes you'll watch the film. Big deal.

I just dont get the fueling of such unnecessary drama. But i'll leave it there.

The Cruentus

I'm not upset though, don't know where you got that from  Just pointing out that not everyone is same, criticism and disagreements don't need to be emotional. But agreed, leave it there.

Quote from: The Cruentus on May 17, 2024, 01:05:15 PMI have certainly considered getting it, just waiting for a good deal I guess
what system do you game on? That game was worth full price. It was nice getting a complete alien experience that I literally have almost no criticisms of other than there's not any actual DLC. Especially if it's a genre you already enjoy

I still think end of may is a good bet for a new trailer.

I suffered through AVP: R in cinema

Thanks to my kiddos I've sat through an immeasurable number of Disney/kid movies over the last decade+ to include Frozen (3 times) only to have brief bits of respite when a 4 year old needs to to take a 10 minute shit half-way through the film.

So yes I'll shell out some money to go see Romulus if only if it means a chance at a decent Alien film. Truth is though I have very high expectations for this one and a large part of that is just from the ambience set in the teaser and the amount of appreciation Fede has for the series. At best it's a film that holds up with the originals and at worst it will at least nail the atmosphere of the originals. So definitely worth it to me.

Mike’s Monsters

I never said anything about spending any money either. First chance they get doesn't = spending money on a ticket.

Quote from: SiL on May 17, 2024, 03:36:48 AMAh, we're at the "just watch the film regardless of whether the advertising does its job convincing you" stage of the pre-release cycle.

But... the advertising so far *HAS* done its job in convincing me to watch it... it's one of the reasons I'm personally riding the hype train. 😅

Maybe, it's just me, but complaining about not wanting to waste time (by watching the movie) while lurking and commenting for months on forums about said movie that you brag about not going to see seems like a waste of time.

Also, sue me, if a fan of the movie franchise is excited about a new movie after 7 years of content drought, but i guess, apparently that means i'm a fanatic shill, drone or lack critical thinking.

I guess this is what people back in the 80s and 90s were caled, before going to watch Aliens and Alien 3.

I don't really have a problem if people won't watch the movie, simply because they can't (financially or kids) or because they are not interested/excited/hopeful, but to go around and acting all high and mighty towards those that are excited for the movie (in said movie's forum lmao) only makes you look like an asshole, contrarians and attention/negativity seekers.

I mean, spending months commenting on a movie forum while bragging about being too good to watch the movie when it comes out, what do you want, a prize or something?

The films are the lifeblood, the main events of this franchise. Without them, there'd be nothing else to talk about.

I want to watch Romulus so I can make informed opinions of my own volition while I talk about this movie with other fans after its release. There's no way I'm going to read hearsay on here, or any other social media platform, about this film and let those words inform or tarnish my thoughts. I didn't do that with Prometheus and I came out of that theater in 2012 ecstatic as f**k and it pushed deeper into the fandom hole. I unfortunately did let other's opinions affect me before Covenant and I came out of that theater dissatisfied, and left fandom for a handful of years cause people can be so ass.

I'm just so excited about this movie but at the same time I have no expectations. That's a good place to be for me :)

Wish I did that.
