We have just uploaded the 113th episode of the Alien vs. Predator Galaxy Podcast (right-click and save as to download)! Corporal Hicks and RidgeTop are once again joined by AvP Galaxy guest writer and community member Voodoo Magic to discuss the Predator: Hunting Grounds prequel novel, Predator: Stalking Shadows!
We discuss how satisfying Stalking Shadows is compared to the audio tapes in Hunting Grounds, characters having to play catch-up with the readers, and plenty more!
We did have a few audio problems with this episode. AJ’s wrap-up review was re-recorded after the fact as his connection kept dropping so the quality is noticeably different. Some of my audio was low and odd words ended up being removed by the automatic post-production processing. So apologies in advanced, and thanks for the understanding.

Yeah, that part in the book was odd and a little confusing. Really didn't make a lot of sense
Other than the slightly dumb/nonsensical Predator escape, it was a great read.
Still made more sense than the Predator just deciding to get up in the film though.
Yeah I heard. Eventually I'll make the plunge and read it. The Predator novelization too which I heard wonderful things about *sarcasm*.
That was indeed very odd...lol
I chalked it up to desperation given recent events
I only have one gripe and it's actually not even something I care about that much, spoilers ahead!
Spoiler
He would've been perfect for Enoch!
Haha! Yessss! Perfect gif. That Imagine Dragons "Radioactive" video is the finest exhibition since "Sonnie's Edge" from Love, Death, and Robots. Lou Diamond Phillips would have made a dope Enoch Nakai back in the day.

Excuses, excuses
Watch out. This teddybear not as plushy as he may seem
It seems to have become the Predator novel holy grail hasn't it. I wonder what Hicks' signed copies would fetch him!
lol. You do realize it's a prequel to "The Predator", right?. So I think my Predator fan card is still in good standing.
But I'm not the biggest reader, I'm trying to change that, but I'm more a comic guy... read every Predator comic, not every Predator novel... but here's my current limited library (excluding Alien & AvP novels).

It's not every Predator novel I own. For instance, I know that I have the Predator novelization somewhere around the house. And looking at these, it is amazing that the Predator 2 novelization, Turnabout and China Sea is collectively worth $250 on a good day.
Boo this man !
He says she's way more skilled than anything he's come up against and observes her like
"As close to royalty as their kind has"
Could be the first time we ever saw a matriarch in lore!
It's pretty fascinating actually, what started as movie magic from the first aid scenes with the Jungle and City Hunters, got expanded quite a bit in the games with the UV crystal shard things that heal your pred up proper, and now 30 years later, genuine science is exploring the miraculous efficiency of undifferentiated stem cells and biologically based nano-technology, and suddenly it all doesn't seem so far fetched any more.
If Yautja, being as advanced as they are, have blood that is infused with what are essentially artificially produced, self-replicating stem cells, powered internally by the natural biological processes and storing their charge in the form of phosphorescent cells, then they would have the ability to be externally charged by exposure to higher energy UV stimulation when those natural biological functions become impaired or compromised. Just like holding a black light up to a glow stick.
From: https://www.thoughtco.com/fluorescence-versus-phosphorescence-4063769
If the artificial stem cell nanotech is designed for Yautja physiology and biological processes, then it could potentially support the replenishment of their cells indefinitely before other entropic forces eventually broke down the system's functioning. Perhaps for Yautja it is indeed not the Years, but just the Mileage.
Being not designed specifically for human physiology, but adaptable enough to function with cells in that foreign environment, the artificial cells could very well function when introduced in the high doses one would receive from eating a Yautja heart perhaps. But, not possessing of the natural Yautja biological functioning which would normally consistently recharge the cells internally, the artificially produced stem cells would run out of their charge and replenishment ability much faster without external UV stimulation, stimulation that Yautja biology is perhaps adapted to but which is inherently harmful to human biology through the damage it inflicts to our DNA.
Speaking of that, we gonna ignore the fact that two games have now copied AVP eternal's vampirizing premise lol.
Late 30's in 1997 would put Harrigan in late 50s in 2017. Pushing 65 perhaps in 2025? I think it can still work if he's kept himself in shape. Maybe Mike has also had some of the Yautja juice that keeps Dutch so spry...
Or Bill Paxton's son as a character! He sounds so much like his dad. "Hey, hunting down alien creatures is my specialty!"
Lol. Yeah, James Patrick Cronin has been doing all the Predator Audiobooks lately, you can tell early on in Stalking Shadows that he's deliberately trying Not to do an Arnie impression, but that goal was a bit too herculean and his Dutch voice is kinda all over the map for most of the book. Later on towards the end he sorta settle's on Arnie-light and it feels a bit more comfortable.
Ironically enough, the Dutch tapes from the game are using the real Arnie, which is mostly awesome but kinda weirdly not Dutch-like sometimes. Like in the recording from March 3rd 2008 right after his entire squad is killed and he only survives because the big Female Yaut lets him live after scarring him up, he just kinda glides over the fact that all his buddies were just slaughtered in front of him. but eh. c'est la vie. Mr Schwarzenegger is incredibly awesome for even being a part of this.
That's nice. Thanks.
Haha, I still feel guilty over some technical problems I was having so I'm glad I could create some laughs. But I know, right? Ellison can't put a sniper somewhere on a roof ready for Dutch to leave the bar? Instead he hires a homeless man? Maybe we should just be happy he was trying to give the homeless employment.
lol , appreciate it. I guess my English teacher deserves the credit for that one.
