Felidae
Where do I begin? This movie is a balls to the wall intense thriller. It is one of the bloodiest movies I have ever seen. And you know what it's about? Cats. This is an animated crime thriller starring cats.
A cat named Francis moves into a new neighborhood and discovers that cats have been turning up dead, and in a variety of gruesome ways. Most feel that the killer is a human, but Francis has other ideas. As the bodies pile on and Francis has more and more intense nightmares, he uncovers a dark past in the neighborhood, whose chapters include medical tests, cult activities, and many more bodies than he originally thought.
Foul language, buckets of blood and memorable characters make for a fantastic time. The music is great, the animation style is beautiful, the story goes to unexpected dark places and it proves to be a compelling and memorable whodunit.
The only real problem is that this English dub (the film is German) is kind of weak. The voice of the main character sometimes fails to capture him right and some characters are played overly comical.
Despite that, this flick works. Easily my favorite animated film of all time.

Cine-Meter, 8/10
Mono-Meter, 10/10

I might check out 2010 eventually, but for now, I'll stick with 2001.

You may want to check out the book as well. Great book as well.

Monolith, you will be happy!

2001: A Space Odyssey

Before I say anything, I just want to mention that there are movies like, say, Skyline, that make me feel like an idiot while watching them, just because they are so stupid. Well, 2001 left me with that same feeling. But I'm not saying that 2001 was stupid, not by any means. 2001 was one of the, if not the most, smartest movies I have ever seen.

I also have to mention that i zoned out for maybe five minutes near the beginning, but it was a couple shots of ships flying, and I was still awake to comprehend what happened through the magic of rewind.

Anyways, I have to say that I absolutely loved the movie. It was breathtaking, in terms of both story and visuals. But, about that story, I still feel like a complete idiot. The last 20, maybe 30 minutes left me staring at the screen, wondering what was happening. Even after looking it up online, I am still confused. I am making sense of it now, but its hard to comprehend. And that's not a bad thing. Not at all. I love it, actually. I can't get it out of my mind. I am slowly figuring it out, but its going to take a little time, even with the internet.

The pacing was very slow, which I actually really liked. I like how the different stories kind of intertwined through The Monolith, even if it still doesn't make complete sense to me. I like that it challenges me and makes me think in ways I never would have. It confuses me, it amazes me, it makes me love it and hate it at the same time.

I am going to try to rewatch it either this week or next weekend, just to try to make more sense of it. It was a truly amazing movie, and I want to go deeper into it and find out more of what it means. I think I may want to read the book, too. But not until after I rewatch the movie at least once more.

This was a great piece of classic film, and I hate myself for delaying my viewing of it for so long. Now I can't wait to watch it again. I need to make sense of what I just saw. I need to stop my head from hurting...

At this time, I can not give it a numerical rating. Maybe after another viewing.

So there you go, Monolith, I watched it. Thank you for recommending it, and I will never be able to look at your avatar the same way again :P

I'll have to find time to watch this now. Dammit.  :D

Star Wars Episode 1
http://www.royalhandmaidensociety.org/hm_merch/miscellaneous_episodei/images/epidvd.jpg

(Never saw star wars before so last week i began watching episode 4/5/6 and i liked them a lot)
Just finished watching episode 1. And i didn't like it at all. The kid couldn't act, Jar Jar is the most irritating sidekick ever. and i had the feeling a lot of forced comedy was forced down my throat. The only thing i loved about the movie was the final battle with Darth Maul (It was well filmed and the soundtrack was more then epic). Hope episode 2 and 3 are better. I will find out soon i guess :P But before i begin an war on the forum again xD i want to repeat that i liked the old movies a lot (episode 4/5/6/).

Just skip to the duel between Anakin and Obi Wan in III. Best duel and conclusion ever.

One of these days I'm going to do a 24 hour Sci-Fi run, and record it.

if i was single and unemployed, i totally would do that :D

as for whiteout, kate beckinsale totally makes it, and it might have been better as a creature feature, but in some ways, it is a creature feature, simply in the way the the environment at the south pole is treated, but it's really a murder mystery, and a pretty good one at that, if you like thrillers/murder mysteries and beckinsale, you might as well watch it.

Independence Day

First time viewing, and I really liked it, but hated the cringe-worthy comedy, which seemed incredibly forced. The rest was fine, take out the comedy and it'll get a 10, but as it is, it gets an 8/10 from me.

The comedy was the shit 15 years ago. It had The Fresh Prince telling aliens not shoot green shit at him!

Just watched Star Wars Episode 2.
I have to say this was a LOT better then Star Wars Episode 1.
Really enjoyed it but still i think the way anakin is portrayed is all wrong. I mean he is supposed to be this all caring hero kind of character. But he is portrayed as a whiny egocentric a**hole. it's a shame because it would be much cooler if he was that hero character everyone cared for. Then the shock would also be bigger when he turned to the dark side.

Or he was supposed to be portrayed as a whiny egocentric asshole who is mishandled and underestimated by his peers and mentors, leaving him open to manipulation by The Emperor. He's a more realistic 'chosen one' character than people tend to give credit - as in, he's a bitchy man-child who thinks he's entitled to the world right up until it comes crashing down around him.
