I asked the JP operations people about the CND, got ignored and blocked. I feel sorry for the guys.

I mentioned that they ignored the CND letter in one of their posts and they said people thought that's what happened when there was changes/difficulties in the creative team. Sounds like bull.

And it was horribly oversized.

The Ceratosaurus?

Yes. Ceratosaurus was only about 6.5 feet tall. The one in the movie looked more like it was 8.5 feet tall. That may have been due to the camera angle though.

lol.

Btw, Who do you guys think was portrayed closely to Richard Levine's character from Crichton's The Lost World in the existing film franchise?

I want to say either Roland Tembo or Possibly Billy Brenan.  Tembo for his stubborn devotion to seek his own interests and Brenan for his recklessness.

Wasn't Levine the nerdy paleontologist guy always arguing with Malcolm? Tembo definitely does not resemble him at all. I think some of his lines of thoughts were transferred to Sarah, though.

Billy? Naaah.

Psychically he looks a lot like Roland's friend, Ajay.

Agreed with 'Zilly - while Levine's spirit is nearly non-existant in the film, I think Sarah got the most of what's used. She's the one setting out to the island on her own, somewhat overconfident and full of zeal, and loses her backpack. Burke obviously is the nerdy palaeontologist, but beyond that archetype he's not really given much of a character.

Come to think of it, the film's Sarah is a major departure from her novel basis. Not nearly as cool, tough or capable, and comes off as just as much of a palaeontologist as a naturalist.
Shame then that they kept Malcolm so similar to his book version, which was one of the biggest issues I took with it. The original character was hilarious and charismatic, The Lost World's was like... well, like he was cripplingly mauled by a Tyrannosaurus and was forced into facing a repeat of it, I guess. But I didn't like it.

This is true for me too.

@ Omega & Vertigo,

That's also true, I guess I didn't really realize how similar Sarah was to Levine's portrayal.  It's really funny how many characters they blended for the film version - Levine and Harding, Kelly and Arby & Eddie and Thorne.  Nick Van-Owen just sorta feels out of the blue.

Could've been replaced by Thorne altogether. I mean Thorne is f**king awesome. Motorcycle chase and all.

But I don't mind in the end.

Eh, if it's a choice between Thorne and Tembo, I'll go with Tembo any time.
