I agree, nowhere near the level of the rex which, despite being animatronic, still looked convincing in how it was shot.
They need more SFX documentaries that talk about how important it is for a director to properly use/shoot their effects shots. Cameron and Scott are great at this, as are a lot of others, but I think we've all seen poor FX segments that could share the blame with the director for trying to shoot it that way as opposed to the effects artists themselves.
