No, it was worse than TLW. It was too short, not enough action, too much of a family adventure vibe, and almost no T.Rex.

I guess people like JP3 better because it didn't try to incorporate any PETA-style messages like in the second movie?

The size of the Jurassic Park T.Rex was spot-on. Consider that in that picture there's a camera angle making it look bigger.
And even if it was -- it's a work of fiction. Who cares. We have frilled Dinosaurs in the same motion picture.
