It is different when you play online, as you can earn credits through doing challenges (daily and weekly) as well as earning in-game "Commendations" (such as 50 kills with a pistol or something like that). Earning 400,000 credits offline would require quite a lot of farming in the Firefight mode, I think.

Offline Firefight mode is impossible to Farm in. Only offline mode that can be used for farming is the Campaign, really, since there're no Commendations for offline Firefight and Custom Matches and you don't earn credits with kills, unfortunately.

In campaign, I'd get anywhere from 9 to 12 thousand credits with at least 8 skulls activate on Legendary.

If I remember correctly, the last one isn't exactly a beacon, but a door.

Do you use the map accessed by the "back" button? You can set a waypoint on the the beacon, and then an arrow will lead you in the direction
