But those endings are lame.

Unless it's like P2 but he actually gets to his ship and leaves. Which would still be pretty anticlimactic.

Getting the same old Predator dies at the end finale is lame.

Then the series has run its course.

Predator's are not good guys. There is nothing beneficial in one living.

Every movie has ended differently. "The Predator dies" is not an ending.

Yes

well after reading the whole thread:

I'm in the middle. It has a lot of pitfalls, but there could be a writer out there to figure it out.

As for "it looks cool" is a reason to do something, that attitude is how we got AVP, AVP:R and A:R.

That means it has to be a protagonist, and with that must gain sympathy from the audience as its story proceeds. For that to happen, character development is needed, which is difficult to achieve because the character is an alien creature.

A couple of set-ups would be conducive to a predator surviving and kinda "winning" in the movie...

  • enforcer vs. bad blood with events unfolding in a way so that the enforcer kills the bad blood with human assistance, kinda like if you tweaked the plot of the DH bad blood comic
  • A pair, trio, small group of Preds hunts a large group of human warriors, soldiers, mercenaries what have you, carnage ensues but the surviving predator decides to spare the surviving human or handful of humans
  • Pred "wins" in this film by killing many dangerous human targets but one of the humans survives...and this sets up a sequel where the Predator might ultimately be defeated
  • A Pred movie with no humans, something like the backstory of the Hive Wars Pred, but doesn't necessarily have to use Aliens

Think the first one is probably easier to write and the last one would be pretty good as part of a Netflix animated Pred/AvP series.

The Shuriken

If the Predator is the sole antagonist of the film, no they should die. If the Predator is a lesser evil, basically having a different threat, then it would be better to survive that type of story.
