Wonder if HBO Max scooping up the series allowed them to put a few extra bucks into the VFX that it wasn't originally going to get on regular cable?

Possibly, Warner is probably impressed with it so far if they've moved it to their new Premium streaming service.

Although VFX work is usually contracted long before filming starts.  :-\

May? So much waiting.

A date is more than we had before.

On a completely different tack, Kuyper is currently producing his first TV series, Scott's 10-part Raised By Wolves, about androids raising human children on a mysterious planet. "For the scheduling we had ten hours that we broke up into five blocks," Kuyper explained. "Ridley Scott directed the first two episodes, the second block was his son Luke Scott – it was almost like doing a feature film every five weeks.

Yeah, it's pretty much as we had it figured. But confusingly, I initially thought it was Luke who directed the second block but then I saw his name on the clapperboard for episode 10 which falls into block 5. But now Kuyper is saying Luke did direct the second block??  ???

Unless Luke came back again for the last three episodes since there is still three episodes (one-and-a-half "blocks") unaccounted for.

As per IMDb:

Ridley Scott   ...   (2 episodes)
Luke Scott   ...   (2 episodes)
Alex Gabassi   ...   (2 episodes)
James Hawes   ...   (1 episode)

Sergio Mimica-Gezzan (Battlestar Galactica - mini series, Heroes, The Terror) is the fifth director with two episodes credited to him.

Luke Scott also now has three episodes (instead of just two) credited to him. So he directed episodes 3,4 and 10. All the episodes are now accounted for with regards to directors.

Nightmare Asylum

I remember being so excited for Halo: Nightfall when it was announced that Ridley Scott was producing it and that Sergio Mimica-Gezzan was directing (Sergio Mimica-Gezzan directed some of my favorite episodes of BSG), but that "film" (I use the term very, very loosely) was rough. I couldn't even finish it.

Still, this project seems to have a lot more effort going into it than that Halo project did (including a Ridley Scott that's actually very hands on), and I know based on his work in BSG that Sergio Mimica-Gezzan can deliver the goods, so I remain very hopeful and optimistic about this entire endeavor.

Yeah, that's why I surreptitiously avoided mentioning Nightfall in Mimica-Gezzan's abbreviated resume above.

Ben Frost is composing the score. He worked for Fortitude (TV Series) and Dark (TV Series).
According to Wikipedia he:

Quotecomposes minimalist, instrumental and experimental music, with influences ranging from classical minimalism to punk rock and black metal.

Sounds ominous, otherworldly, haunting and melancholic. Good choice for a composer of sci-fi series. He'll deliver.

That sounds suitably appropriate for something like Raised by Wolves.

If this is anywhere near as good as The Terror, although that is an adaptation and RBW is an original project, then I wonder if another Sci-Fi success under Ridley Scott will look good on his CV so to speak to Disney.

𝔗𝔥𝔢 𝔈𝔦𝔤𝔥𝔱𝔥 𝔓𝔞𝔰𝔰𝔢𝔫𝔤𝔢𝔯

Perhaps. Earlier in this thread we raised the likelihood that many of Ridley's ideas for the Covenant sequel might have been recycled for this show. If the show does really well ratings-wise, Fox/Disney might end up kicking themselves.

Or giving him one last film.

HBO Max streaming service launches in May (less than four months). I assume Wolves will be released at the same time.

𝔗𝔥𝔢 𝔈𝔦𝔤𝔥𝔱𝔥 𝔓𝔞𝔰𝔰𝔢𝔫𝔤𝔢𝔯

I think so, it's one of the main draws for HBO's new service. Haven't had any news on Wolves for a long time now.

Ingwar

It's in post-production at the moment. Hopefully trailer will arrive soon. It's the most anticipated series for me right now. The fact it's not based upon anything (books, games, comics) makes it even more intriguing.
