Alien: Covenant Release Pulled Forward & Fox Offers First Glimpse Of The Alien

I think the reasons of the rush is 1) 2017 has a lot of potential blockbusters so Fox is looking for a month free of competence and 2) Fox wants to solve once for all if Alien 5 has green light or not.

This could also be a testament of confidence from Fox. August tends to be like the last chance for summer blockbusters. Anything from early May to the end of July tends to be an excess of high marketing and big time movies. There's always that pattern of March blockbusters, summer hits, and then hits in the holidays.

<p>20th Century Fox has announced that the release date for Alien: Covenant has been pulled forward yet again, this time from August 4th to May 19th.</p><p>The announcement comes via a teaser poster that has just been released on 20th Century Fox's <a href="https://twitter.com/20thcenturyfox/status/801561857475493888" target="_blank">various social media platforms</a>. This marks the second time Alien: Covenant has had it's release pulled forward (<a href="http://www.avpgalaxy.net/2015/11/16/alien-covenant-officially-announced-october-2017-release-plot-details/">it was originally announced with a release date of October 2017</a>) and Alien vs. Predator Galaxy has heard that the studio is pleased with how the film is turning out.</p><p>This additional change in release potentially shows real confidence on the part of 20th Century Fox as it now puts Sir Ridley Scott's Prometheus sequel release into close proximately with Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (May 5th). The poster's nice, but releasing the movie so soon is the best news.  Now a trailer would be lovely.

Man this is awesome news and better yet that teaser trailer must be coming out in the next few days. This alien is meant to be a forerunner to the one seen in alien. So a simpler more organic feel to the runner is expected. And that tag line, "Run"... I wonder if this is Ridley Scott version of Mad Max! Fury Road?

Oh gosh, I hope this rush doesn´t flaw the final film, my concern if they would have time to make a decent edit. Fingers crossed.

Fassbender recently said that he knew of a full cut of the film already being complete. From what I've seen, there's been a lot of indication that practical effects have been a focus within the production. Not to mention, there was apparently a lot of on location shooting. August did seem a bit far. With limited CGI, this new date makes sense. Why wait?

Well I guess wasn't expecting this! Super exciting that we're getting the movie three months early. Marketing will really kick into gear in the coming weeks.

The xeno looks really good, too. I get the Alien 3 vibes as well.
