Oh this will take a while then

Moosh89

Hah! Possibly!

I'm still pretty confident and excited!

We have a few cool things in the works, like an exclusive story/interview with the guys that made Bug Hunt, and we have the Xenomorph Warrior contest going on right now too. I also have two full copies (Game and Season Pass) to give away on Steam but I can't quite think of a way to do so... Headscratchin' like crazy!

We are also about to go to the media, we finished revising our media letter, we're just waiting on some things to fall into place before we strike. We only have one shot to make an impression and we want to do it right :)

I just signed, i hope this worth. I really like the Bug Hunt DLC.
Thank you, aliens13, for your signature, and I would like to congratulate everyone on attaining 350+ signatures so far!  As I've always said, every signature matters, so I continue to be real grateful every time we have someone support the push for one last wave of content.  We are getting ready to approach the media soon, so the more signatures we have, the more likely that gaming journalists will take our petition seriously, and see the cause as being newsworthy.  Once we reach out to the casual crowd, I am confident we will be able to capture the attention of all the A:CM fans who would support the cause, but just don't know about it because they aren't the type to sign up to the hardcore forums and all that.

How long do you plan to keep up the fire? Until official answer or?
Quote from: Moosh89 on Oct 31, 2013, 04:35:56 PM
I always assumed until an official answer is given by SEGA. It isn't just my decision though, it's also up to JustaGrunt and the rest of the community :)
I think we'll be in a better position to answer this question once we make our big media play soon.  Right now, we are planning to contact media at over 70 different websites, which should help ensure that the petition is able to reach the widest audience possible.  Thanks in large part to Moosh, we have a media letter in place, as well as a press release, so everyone can rest assured there there has been a lot of work behind the scenes to give the petition the best chance for success.  When it's the right time to strike (which should be very, very soon and before the next gen begins), we will follow through with our media push and try our best to get 1,000+ signatures, that way we can help give Demiurge as much leverage as possible with Sega, to show them that there is indeed interest for one last round of Bug Hunt content.  With media attention and Demiurge working on our behalf behind the scenes, it will then be decision time for Sega, and, one way or another, we should find out if they will honor the petition for more Bug Hunt, or the SDK in the alternative, or say no to everything, and risk further upsetting the same die-hard crowd that they will expect to support Alien: Isolation next year.

One other thing I'd like to mention, particularly with some of the comments you made, Winter, concerns different things we'd like to see for the game that are outside the scope of Bug Hunt.  As far as I'm concerned, the hope has always been to get development to resume on the game (in this case with Bug Hunt), and once we know that's a go, then do our best to see if we can get the developers to work in additional requests on the side.  Kinda like getting the best of both worlds, but in order to make that happen, I've always seen this petition as the gateway because we need someone to start the engines of production again before we can realistically hope for the other options.  At least this time around, we will know specifically who to to talk to and what to request in order to help see that A:CM be retired on the best note possible.

In other news, I would like to share the latest petition-related video with AVPgalaxy, which is another example of why the Bug Hunt horde mode has potential.  Before, we shared how Demiurge Studios could revisit Bug Hunt and recycle existing assets to provide full-blown, movie-accurate Bug Hunt experiences on expanded maps such as the Nostromo, Processor, and Fury 161.

In this video, we share the possibilities of two more maps that Demiurge could choose to use, should they be given the authorization by Sega to produce one last wave of Bug Hunt content.  With that being said, I hope everyone enjoys our latest video and for those who haven't signed the petition yet, please consider doing so, or if you have, please continue to share it with anyone who may interested, that way we continue to increase our signature numbers, and have a firm foundation in place by the time we reach out to the media soon.  Thanks in advance for any and all help you can provide!  So without further ado, here is "Why Bug Hunt Has Potential, Part 2"...

Thanks for the help, PRJ_since1990!  What I've been doing is sending a message to Sega's Facebook account almost everyday, and also using the support tickets to request one last wave of Bug Hunt DLC by Demiurge Studios.  Since the customer support team aren't able to make decisions like this, I'm always careful to tell them to pass this information along to the higher-ups at Sega who DO have decision-making authority.  Please be sure to ask them to do the same, that way the higher-ups at Sega continue to get the message.  Anything we can do can help Demiurge gain more leverage when negotiating with Sega to come back for one last wave of content.  Keep up the good work, everyone, and thanks again, PRJ_since1990!

11/12/13 UPDATE

Hello there, everyone!  Today marks a very special day for both the petition and the A:CM community as a whole.  After months of hard work, the Queen (Moosh) is ready to call out to her children (the A:CM community) and make a courageous effort to defend the hive (future of A:CM).

As Moosh previously mentioned, she was able to secure an interview with Dave Flamburis, who was one of the Bug Hunt developers from Demiurge, and ask him many questions on behalf of the community.  The exclusive interview can be found at the following link:

http://www.avpgalaxy.net/games/aliens-colonial-marines-sega/interview-dave-flamburis-demiurge-studios-bug-hunt/

In addition, Moosh was also able to help inspire him to create a developer diary on the making of Bug Hunt.  You can find the developer diary at the following link:

http://aeternumars.wordpress.com/hadleys-hope-and-the-making-of-tribute/

I hope you all enjoy reading both the interview and the diary.  I think they both came out great, and help demonstrate how much love Dave Flamburis, as well as his former colleagues at Demiurge Studios, put into Bug Hunt.  If you haven't seen Shev's "Tribute to Tribute" video yet, I strongly suggest that you do in order to see that the proof is in the pudding.  Before I continue any further, however, I would like to reiterate some words of encouragement we've received so far:

Josh Glavine, Lead Designer for Bug Hunt:

"We love Aliens we loved working on this project and we would love to make more!

Keep playing, keep getting signatures and who knows what might happen!"

Source:  Petition comment

Dave Flamburis, Lead Artist for Bug Hunt:

"I WOULD LOVE a full-blown, Tribute-style Processor BH map... lem'me at it!"

Source:  Exclusive Interview

Now with that being said, I invite everyone to visit the following link and read my next comments with the appropriate background music:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHUINYLPeGc#ws

"I address you today, not as a supporter of Bug Hunt, not as a part of the on-going petition, but as member of the A:CM community.  We are faced with the very gravest of challenges.  The naysayers believe that A:CM has reached a point of Armageddon.  The end of all things.  And yet for the first time in the game's post-release period, the community has banded together to prevent the game's extinction.  All of you supporting this cause need to know that everything that can be done to prevent this disaster is being called into service.  The community's thirst for bug hunt, every step up the ladder of the APC, every adventurous reach onto LV-426, all of our combined talents and imaginations, even the flame wars we've fought, have provided us the tools to wage this terrible battle.  Through all the chaos that is this game's history, through all the wrongs and the discord, through all of the pain and suffering, through all of our times, there is one thing that has nourished our souls and elevated our community above its origins.  And that is our passion.  The dreams of an entire community are focused today on the media letter and press release that is traveling into the heavens of cyberspace.  And may we all, Aliens fans the world over, see this media push through.  God speed and good luck to you."

::waits for Moosh to press the "send" button and initiate launch with the go-flight command::

So regarding the Xeno contest, when is the new last day for entries? Or did I miss it in the print somewhere?

Also, I still support the efforts being made. I hope we get some much-needed support/patches/additions to ACM. I got a reply email back from SEGA support.

Evan, Nov 11 15:54 (PST):

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. We will take it into consideration for future releases and updates.

Best Regards,
SEGA Customer Support

I'm glad they at least read it.

tl;dr version: nothing new, there will be no further support ever for ACM (again - nothing new).

Lol as if 2 sentences has become tl;dr

I'll still support the ideas even if no one else is willing to. Including the company that can make those ideas a reality.

We have emailed close to 70 gaming sites today asking them to help us make a last stand for More Bug Hunt!

Hopefully we can start seeing some stories pop up in the next few days.

I know some of you might be worried about competing with the Juggernaut PS4 and the XBOX One releases, but I believe we reached out to a good variety of smaller websites. I have good faith!

Here is a copy of the email we sent out:
QuoteGame Title:  ALIENS: COLONIAL MARINES [Multiplatform:  Xbox 360, PS3, PC]

Game Licensor: 20th Century Fox

Game Publisher:  SEGA

Game Developers:  Gearbox Software / Demiurge Studios

Hi!

My name is Melissa K., or known on many forums and gaming sites as "Moosh" or "Moosh89".  You may remember back in 2012 when I led a petition for ALIENS: COLONIAL MARINES to include Playable Females in the game's Multiplayer modes.  We managed to get over 4,000 signatures thanks to widespread media coverage, as well as thanks to many actors of the 1986 blockbuster film who pledged their support by signing the petition, which included Jenette Goldstein (Pvt. Vasquez), Cynthia Scott (Cpl. Dietrich), Colette Hiller (Cpl. Ferro), Ricco Ross (Pvt. Frost), William Hope (Lt. Gorman), Trevor Steedman (Pvt. Wierzbowski), and Daniel Kash (Pvt. Spunkmeyer).

Back in February of this year, both gamers and journalists alike were disappointed with the release of ALIENS: COLONIAL MARINES.  For several different reasons, the game failed to live up to most people's expectations, and, as a result, it was universally panned by critics.

What many people missed, however, is the contributions of Demiurge Studios, who developed and released an amazing horde mode called "BUG HUNT" after the game's launch.  Since BUG HUNT was released as DLC, it was NOT included in the game's original reviews, and there are still many, many people who are unaware of this hidden gem, or redeeming aspect, of ALIENS: COLONIAL MARINES.  This is why I am calling on the media to help me spread awareness for a new petition I have created for one last wave of BUG HUNT.  The petition already has hundreds of signatures from people around the world, the approval of an actor from ALIENS, and support from Demiurge Studios!

- LINK to Petition: https://www.change.org/petitions/sega-of-america-corporation-gearbox-software-demiurge-studios-please-release-additional-bug-hunt-dlc-for-aliens-colonial-marines

- What is Bug Hunt?
Bug Hunt is an objective based horde mode that allows up to four players to battle increasingly difficult waves of enemies in the same vein as other fan-favorite horde modes, such as those found in the Call of Duty or Gears of War game franchises.  It allows players to:  (1) play in iconic settings featured in James Cameron's Aliens film, like the Hadley's Hope colony on LV-426; (2) use iconic weaponry and gadgets featured in James Cameron's Aliens film, such as the pulse rifle, smartgun, motion tracker, etc.; (3) play as a customized Marine, or as characters from the film, as  Hicks, Hudson, Apone, or Drake; and (4) battle against H.R. Giger's classic movie monster, the alien xenomorph, which was voted as one of the most memorable movie villains by the American Film Institute.

- Why Demiurge Studios?
Demiurge Studios is an independent video game developer who developed the BUG HUNT horde mode that many people argue is the best part, and saving grace of ALIENS: COLONIAL MARINES.  Demiurge Studios has lent its support to the petition with several developers providing their signatures.  Demiurge has expressed that working on BUG HUNT was a labor of love, and judging from their work, many fans most definitely agree.

- Why is Bug Hunt so important?

For ALIENS fans, the BUG HUNT horde mode is arguably the best way to re-live the action-packed, adrenaline-filled rush from James Cameron's epic science fiction film.  As you know, horde modes are still a very popular feature in video games, which can be evidenced by its inaugural outing in Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Ghosts, which, coincidentally, includes a horde mode with aliens.  However, BUG HUNT remains special because the horde mode in Ghosts does NOT have the Aliens license and, as such, cannot provide any of the distinctive elements from the Alien franchise.

- What is this BUG HUNT petition all about?

Our BUG HUNT petition is primarily aimed at 20th Century Fox and Sega of America, as they have the authority to authorize one last wave of content by Demiurge Studios. The petition has been written by fans, for fans, who are hoping to have Demiurge Studios provide us with more of what we liked.

At the time of this letter, WITHOUT any major media attention, we have already surpassed over 380 signatures, representing interested gamers from all over the world.  As previously mentioned, developers from Demiurge have signed the petition, and provided such comments as the following:

Josh Glavine: https://www.change.org/users/64913963
"Hey Guys,
This is Josh. I was the Lead Designer on the Bug Hunt project here at Demiurge Studios. Today is my birthday and finding this petition is one of the best birthday gifts ever.
We love Aliens we loved working on this project and we would love to make more!
Keep playing, keep getting signatures and who knows what might happen! "

As well as Lead Bug Hunt Artist David Flamburis, formerly of Demiurge Studios: https://www.change.org/users/64974132
"I'm doing this for Moosh !
As Lead Artist on Horde, making the Tribute map was one of my inadvertent bucket list achievements. TRULY an honor and a labor of love...hands-down."

- Why Bug Hunt Has Potential:

A lot of the content that fans want in BUG HUNT can be easily put together by using and recycling assets that already exist in the game, which should help lower development costs and time considerably. In addition, since Demiurge Studios has expressed that they are ready and willing to revisit BUG HUNT, Sega now has the opportunity to retire ALIENS: COLONIAL MARINES on a fan-friendly note, and in the process, gain a lot of goodwill from fans who are still sore about their overall experience.

- Fans Making a Last Stand

Fans have pulled together and shared their talents for the BUG HUNT petition, even going so far as donating prizes for contests to keep everyone engaged and having fun.

Donations have been Promotional Artwork, Videos, Articles, and cool prizes such as new NECA ALIENS Action Figures, Copies of ALIENS: COLONIAL MARINES, New Release Movies, and XBOX 360 and PSN currency.

- How YOU can help us!:
Please consider sharing our story with your readers!   To get a true sense of why we're making a last stand for the BUG HUNT horde mode, please look over all the video links that have been provided.  We believe BUG HUNT, in particular, is worth fighting for and hope that you will understand our very real passion behind this cause.  We further encourage you to share this story with your readers because we believe that there are many people who will be interested in this news, and in order to try and convince Fox and Sega that there is enough demand, we need every signature and as much support as we can possibly get.  With the game's troubled history, we realize we are fighting an uphill battle, but we press on because we don't want to see Demiurge (and their incredible work) be lost in the bad reviews.

Thank you so much for your time and for your consideration!

If you need any additional information, please don't hesitate to contact me by email!
Yours truly,

P.S.:  To help assist you in publishing a news article, I have created a press release for you to accompany your story with.  The press release is as follows:

PRESS RELEASE

Fans making one last stand for Aliens: Colonial Marines

A fan-made petition has been created with the intention of influencing Fox and Sega of America to authorize one last bundle of Bug Hunt DLC by Demiurge Studios.  Bug Hunt is an objective based horde mode that allows up to four players to battle increasingly difficult waves of enemies in the same vein as other fan-favorite horde modes, such as those found in the Call of Duty or Gears of War game franchises.

Bug Hunt was developed by Demiurge Studios, who is an independent video game developer that is based out of Cambridge , Massachusetts .  Demiurge has worked on many different games for many different platforms, and recently released the well-received Marvel Puzzle Quest game for mobile devices.

Demiurge has given its support to the petition, and its lead designer, Josh Glavine, has announced that the studio would love to make more content.  With developer support in place, fans of Bug Hunt have come together to raise awareness of what many people consider to be the best part of Aliens: Colonial Marines, and a hidden gem that was overlooked due to the wave of controversy that the game received at its release.

Fans behind the petition assert that because Bug Hunt was made available after the base game launched, it was largely overlooked by video game journalists, as well as fans who were disappointed with other aspects of the game that were made by other companies.

As such, the fans behind the push for a final wave of content are currently seeking petition signatures from individuals who would like Demiurge to release one last offering of fan requested Bug Hunt content that can help retire A:CM on a much higher note.

Its a shame it wasn't a million signatures, SEGA isn't even going to BLINK with 4000. The CEO heads are brown noser's that got there not by being unique and smart, but by being yes men or coming from families that open doors. We have seen this with a TON of SEGA products, T3 War of the Machines anyone?

Bughunt and more of it are needed, but Activity is next to DEAD for this game which sucks. I made a small mod that allows 95 rds in the pulse and fixed a few other things for the latest version of this game and have a wopping 25 download! Which shows you people are not playing or looking up mods for this game. MODD site is one of the best for activity but......25 downloads.

I wished they had bots for Games that have only 1-2 people in them, again the developers have no wish to make truly works of art, its just about quick money. SEGA can care less for 4000 fans of the game or a developer that in their eyes would love to have more money to make another bughunt.

This reminds me of Alien3 where she said, you think the company cares about a bunch of lifers that found religion. lol Same SEGA the "Company" can care less about the game or the fans, they made their money and are looking for toward their next cash cow. I think people forget this CEO's are from RICH families and they DO NOT play video games at all, LIFE is their video game. It's like two different worlds and the same thing is happening to all the politicians being disconnected from the ordinary people.

Good try though, I hope it works, just 4000 is too low.

As many of you know, the media push has officially begun and we have shared the petition with several different gaming journalists across the internet.

Since the PS4 is getting a lot of coverage today, tomorrow, and throughout the weekend, we are hoping that petition-related coverage will begin to roll out in the coming weeks, as gaming journalists get a chance to cover more stories outside of the PS4 and Xbox One launches.

Even so, I encourage everyone to keep an eye on the page views for this thread, as we have provided the media with this thread link, and it is quite possible that the amount of viewing activity will receive a spike in the days and weeks ahead.

For example, when we were beginning the media push, we were around 17,000 page views, and I believe we are already at about 18,000 at the time of this posting.  So if you are interested in gauging the amount of interest, I recommend following the page views, and looking for any additional signatures that may be coming from the journalists themselves, while they are researching and preparing their stories.

Other than that, I do believe that we are in the final stretch of our last stand, everyone.  Hopefully with media coverage spread throughout this month and the next, in a perfect world, the petition will gain enough momentum to help convince the powers-that-be (20th Century Fox & Sega) to authorize one last round of Bug Hunt DLC.  If we are successful, I hope that we will receive an announcement of Bug Hunt DLC by the New Year, possibly with a release in March to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Bug Hunt, and to bring about the official retirement of Aliens: Colonial Marines (A:CM).

Other than that, I would like to extend my deepest thanks to everyone who has helped make this petition possible, and to everyone in the community who continues to support us.  I would also like to express my heartfelt thanks to all the Bug Hunt developers who have helped us along our journey, and are continuing to stay abreast of all our latest developments here.  Just the other day, I received a wonderful e-mail from one of the developers, which assures me that our posts ARE being read, everyone.  As such, while the fate of Bug Hunt on current gen systems hangs in the balance, I encourage everyone to feel free to express your thoughts and well wishes to the Bug Hunt team that made this all possible.  I assure you that developers are lurking, and you may be happy to know that one even shed a tear of joy at the Armageddon-inspired speech I shared a few posts back.

I share this to remind everyone that these are very real people who love the franchise and are absolutely blown-away every time they see that their work is appreciated by the very people they made it for. Trust me, when I heard how they were geeking out while watching Shev's "Tribute to Tribute" together, it just touched my heart to realize that, regardless of what side of the fence we are on, they are us and we are them.  We are all fans who want what's best for this franchise, and even though there may be missteps along the way, it's great to see when we have real fans on the inside working on our behalf, and giving us great experiences like Bug Hunt on Tribute.

So with all that being said, I would like to salute all the fans, all the developers, and especially all those with clout who read this posting, and can help us go on one last bug hunt.  That's what I would like for Christmas this year - a Bug Hunt announcement for myself and the rest of the community.  Until then, if you all encounter any petition-related articles either on websites or via Facebook postings, please do whatever you can to steer those discussions in a positive direction, and remind people that there's a horde mode that deserves a second chance.  Tell 'em it's called Bug Hunt and that for at least one fan who was waiting for an A:CM game since the EA announcement in May 2001, it was worth the wait.

20TH CENTURY FOX/SEGA/GBX/DEMIURGE:
Please give us more A:CM content (Bug Hunt), or the tools to develop content (full sdk). We'll give you $$$ in return. Simple.
