All I remember was really digging the GITS movie and finding the manga an overly wordy schnoozefest and vice versa for Appleseed.  Or vice vice versa.

Mind you that was back in the '90s.  I've not watch Appleseed since (the Ex Machina film aside), but have watched the GITS movie a lot.
