! Private video

production values are gewd, catching up with the cinematic releases talent isn't quite oshii level, but ill take what i can get.

I have the full episode awaiting me when i arrive home. :)

Here's a synopsis.

"The anime's story is set in 2027, one year after the end of the fourth non-nuclear war. Newport City is still reeling from the war's aftermath when it suffers a bombing caused by a self-propelled mine. Then, a military officer implicated in arms-dealing bribes is gunned down.

During the investigation, Public Security Section 9's Daisuke Aramaki encounters Motoko Kusanagi, the cyborg wizard-level hacker assigned to the military's Secret Unit 501. Batou, a man with the "eye that does not sleep," suspects that Kusanagi is the one behind the bombing. The Niihama Prefectural Police detective Togusa is pursuing his own dual cases of the shooting death and a prostitute's murder. Motoko herself is being watched by Secret Unit 501's head Kurutsu and cyborg agents."

Just watched the first ep,

Little bit of retcon, but it's basically an origins story for team, no tachikomas but a "logicoma" basically a toned down version, a little more palatable.

Kusanagi is a more Vulnerable character this time around, adds more depth than her previous cinematic incarnations, a little more than just a stylistic nod to "Girl with the dragon tattoo" I have to lol at the wizard level hacking blurb in the synopsis.

also a nice added commentary on the military industrial complex specifically relating to cyber bodies, and dash of geopolitical intrigue, still very ghost in the shell in that department.

The sound track was a little underwhelming and forgettable, and the product placement was jarring... Ain't nobody using a Microsoft surface now, no chance they'll be using them in the future.

As good as the pre existing TV series but I'm not ready to say better until I get more time with it, origin stories are always a little taxing, still a bit off Oshi's versions, and the "Shirow" manga but fun none the less.

Space Sweeper

Might finally get to starting this tomorrow, looks gorgeous.

just finished watching this this morning. I didn't like the aesthetics/design too much; story was fine. Least favorite part of the GiTS catalog thus far.

BTW
does anyone know what group did the music for the end theme? I liked it, would like to here more by them.
