In general, I usually prefer the AC but yeah, the dogburst is better imho. It has more impact. I mean, all love dogs, right?

Problem with the dog one however, is that the Chestburster should not be that size (doesn't make sense that the dog was even alive for those last moments if it had that inside it) or fully formed when it comes out, at least with the Ox it makes sense as it couldn't get out due to the toughness of a large host and it just kept growing on the inside, which killed the Ox and makes it more acceptable when it is born fully formed.

What doesn't make sense is the ox carking it long before the burst.

If a chestburster can burst through a rib cage and a skull - I don't see how a ox's chest would be much of an issue.

Around 1991 Mad Cow Disease was at its peak in the UK, that probably had an influence.

Is it possible that the ox was simply comatose like Kane was for a time after his facehugger detached?

Kane woke up. I'd have thought they'd have checked it for signs of life too.

Forgive me.  I'm under the weather and feeling a tad cranky.  :-[

And Kane didn't wake up immediately.  His facehugger detached before the Nostromo left LV-426 and he didn't awaken until afterward.

Also, unless the prisoners saw comatose (versus merely sleeping) oxen on a regular basis, I imagine they could easily mistake one for being dead.

Do I need to be one of the cool kids to respond to people around here? Anyway, my response was a bit short. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xu5WZpx77fE you can see here that it's strung up and even has flies on its face. It's dead.

Those "flies" are the indigenous lice and they crawl on everything, not just carcasses.  And I don't doubt that the inmates thought it was dead, hence being strung up.

As for being a cool kid, I'd prefer a Spacing Guild Navigator over a Mentat.
