That's true, but the main issue is how the less powerful lighting will affect the Alien gameplay.

In this case, the graphics actually count for game balance.

More powerfull lighting, maps are bright and open... There maybe some few slightly
darker spots here and there but not enough to be of use really and players will learn
to insinctively spray few rounds to those spots to make sure there is no alien there.
Its apparently AvP2 all over again in this regard...

AvP2 aliens used to "fly" around screaming, this time they run around (screaming ?)
(I think they said somewhere that aliens scream/hiss or something while running...)

Well, luckily no-one ever looks up.

This sucks. What's wrong with games these days? A ten year old title (AvP1) can have great shadows both in SP and MP and a new one can't?

Please, let's not ignore how much resources a game requires nowadays.

We're not, but since a large part of the Alien gameplay and character hinges on using the darkness, it'd be wonderful if the shadows were deeper.

Combine this with the fact that we won't be able to destroy lights in multiplayer and it reduces the cinematic quality of Alien-related multiplayer matches considerably.

Yeah... Consoles with their outdated hardware are limiting but they could
have distributed the resources they do have better anyway...

Confirmed.

So... Its prettu much confirmed then, Aliens won't be sneaking around using
darkness in MP... Aliens will have to move behind things like in AvP2... At least
they can do that better this time with their "X-Ray" vision... (Unless that too
is SP only...) ::)

Do Marines have nightvsion? If they don't, that could explain why we can't destroy lightsources. It might makes the matches too unfair. Aliens can see in darkness, Predators have vision modes, and Marines only lousy flares.

The good news is that seeing through walls is in multiplayer. In addition, its range has actually been extended since Eurogamer (where it was practically useless).

No flares in MP, either. Flashlights are there, though. But Marines do of course have the motion tracker, which is very powerful in the right hands.

Or... Perhaps the MP maps are actually dark... But that guy who wrote the
review didn't know that Aliens vision mode automatically adjust the lightness
level and though that, what alien see is the real lightness level... ;D

all you need to do is look at the new MP trailers.... gfx look the same as SP to me, and the temple map is dark (you could only see where the flashlight was pointed)

If that's indeed the case, then I'm glad.
