Yes man, just yes (read: de gustibus non disputandum est).
It brilliantly succeeds at what it was supposed to be, by the way.

I thought it was a really stupid addition that was responsible for killing the Alien franchise.

This is true, but I myself feel that maybe it could of been done better.

what? the movie ended with no loose ends. it was an ending to the story of ripley. THATs what "ended" the franchise

The story ended when Ripley died at the end of Alien 3. There was no need for another sequel.

The avp films were my least favorite

Le Celticant

Predators
They can destroy AVP as much as they want...
it is "Alien VERSUS Predator"
so it's not a bad thing, but Predators no no no
you don't touch an already installed license with
such an horrible film.

By what logic?

I do think there's room for improvement (a pair of concept designs looked better than the final product), but we're talking about a 'an abominable thing to look at', and 'the horrible version of a child'. The Newborn brilliantly succeeds in both categories. Another thing, but that's to do with writing, it appears only in the last 10 mins of the film, they could've put a set up or give it more screen time, but for what we got, it's all good.

No need for Alien3, either.

That's my main problem with it. The design itself if fine; it's the execution that was bad. It just felt tacked on at the end.
