Because of limitations, yes, it crawling on walls was always the intent

It was also in the storyboards for it to be leaping from wall to ceiling etc in the scripted airlock scene... but limitations of the time prevented it... we saw what that would look like in the Covenant trailer (as the alien does so in a red-lit corridor as the crew seal doors behind it)...only for them to cut it from the final film again 😅
To this day I don't know why the cut from the film, it was a very cool shot

Agreed! I also lamented losing the "4 meters above you" scene... I always felt like whole baiting the Alien on the Covenant felt like it should have been longer (they disposed of it with ease in minutes in what usually takes entire movies). I know it's not the case, but it kinda feels like there's a good 20minutes extra held back and not released in deleted scenes for a 'Director's Cut' double dip that never came due to lower than expected reception by audiences.

The entire third act would benefit a lot having extra minutes, it feels very rushed and easily was one of the things that I was more excited about. I hope that some day extra footage get released, the movie really needs it

That "4 meters above you" it's from the red corridor scene?

If I'm not mistaken, the "She Won't Go Quietly" advert was filmed explicitly as an ad for the movie rather than that footage just being deleted scenes from the film's final sequence.

But I agree, had the final act taken 10-15 minutes longer to really ramp up the tension, I think it would've been a more successful finale.

But we don't know that Holm *hasn't* given that permission yet, and until we do, any suggestion of exploiting the deceased is currently unfounded, it's just an assumption (or a concern). 😅

This is why I never understood the fuss made about the photo at the beginning of Alien 3 (aside from the fact it was barely recognisable as him on screen) - he doesn't own the character Hicks... if 20th Century fox want to churn out books, documentaries toys etc with imagery from 'Aliens', there's no issue using screenshots from it... if alien 3 had opened with footage from Aliens recapping, no argument could have been made from his side, if they'd used a promotional image of Hicks from Aliens, no argument could be made..but they added a crt green filter and suddenly there was a legal case? It was a picture of Hicks, not Beihn. I mean it could also be argued that one of the reason actors are chosen among others is they look like the envisioned character.

This is how likeness rights work. Notice how no toy or figure of Kane looks like John Hurt? They have no right to use his likeness outside of what he agreed to. Same with Hicks: Beihn signed off on Aliens and that film only; anything else would require additional rights. Alien 3 is a separate property and required a separate rights agreement; that's why his dummy was designed with a destroyed face.

The statement about Kane/John Hurt is not correct.
NECA has released a version of Kane in the spacesuit WITH his likeness.

Yes, the only Kane figure with his likeness was released after his death. The Hot Toys figure used John Finch. Hiya looks like god knows who. Most have his face hidden by the face hugger.

I mean, sure, he might have changed his mind, but he clearly hadn't granted his likeness for a long time. There's no reason companies wouldn't have used it if it came part and parcel with making Kane figures.

The key point is that an actor's likeness is something that has to be released for specific usage by the actor and them appearing in a movie does not grant a studio carte blanche to do whatever they want.

Holm clearly didn't have an issue with using his likeness for merchandise.

What happens if we find out he had signed the rights away to use his likeness for characters he'd played in the past and was totally cool with them being used again? If Martin Freeman hadn't played Bilbo, I bet we'd be seeing Holm again in the upcoming Gollum film.

Then they f**ked up. But I'll decide that when we have all the information, which always eventually comes out some time after production. How about you answer my question? What if he was totally down for this kind of stuff?

Then I have a plethora of other well-documented issues with the concept.

I'd like to be able to make an informed decision before seeing the film, preferably because the production has been transparent.
