Playing ACM with Templar for the first time without any expectations would probably be fun for most gamers.
Heck I'm playing it right now and just for how much Templar improved the aliens bots I'm digging purely for the challenge, those claws can kill you fast now. Shooting aliens is more fun than people so for me its better than most FPS. And V6 is coming, he is going to improve the AI more and increase the acid damage.

So you actually bought ACM. AVP 2010 was fun but didn't come close to what it could have been.
You should try AVP Classic and AVP2, they gave birth to the AVP online community, the average laptop can probably run them fine considering how old they are.
Isolation can be played on 360.
