I was just thinking of the Alien life cycle, the egg isn't biomechanical-looking and neither is the facehugger or chestburster, they all look fleshy and organic. So what is the theory behind how it develops into a biomechanical being inside the human host?

Just because the Alien has a biomechanical LOOK doesn't mean that it literally has to be biomechanical in biology.
Right.  Also, as has been mentioned here before, this is a completely alien species.  Everything that we know of as biological life, or any other life, may have no bearing on this species at all.
