That his movie takes place between Aliens and Alien 3? Basically, they wake up, Alien5 happens, go back to cryosleep and Alien3 begins?This wouldn't explain their aging, though.

Blomkamp didn't seek out to destroy Alien 3, but the story he wants to tell requires it not to have happened.
