Oh come on this show was definitely creative in it's early days. And every now and then some episodes where real crazy due to the non liemer story telling. Just the fact that it was a story being told yielded many creative episodes and moments, where Ted would straight up mess up the order of the story or forget peoples names.

The only real generic thing about this show is the "band of friends in new york" thing. That's it. Yes the show started blowing in later seasons but it was still creative with it's stories, even if the humor was lacking. This show has had some crazy shiz.

Yeah that's what I had hoped too but it seemed unlikely after the episode that was centered on her character. Pretty much told all her story
