Why would they use them in the first trailer for the re-reveal then? They knew this was going to be analyzed to death.

That exact reason?

To piss off fans with plot holes? Doubt it.

I wont pretend to know for sure. All I can say then is that the game's story obviously doesn't fit into the continuity as stated. From what we have seen so far.

God. I feel like one of those fans.

One thing id like to see which wont happen anyways as this is after A3 is seeing ripley die from one of the marines point of view and then escorting morse away

Will A:CM be just as "plotholed" as Alien3 then? or will it be better?

Personally, I can deal with the fabricated notion that Hadley's Hope survives (for the sake of this game) more than the idea that an egg somehow got on board the Sulaco at the end of Aliens and directly caused the death of Newt and Hicks.  The opening scene of Alien3, as interesting as it is, still annoys me to this day.

Would anyone here be pissed off if they changed the canon story line?

Won't be considered canon, if the rest of the game is ok and they don't make it an extreme change, I wouldn't mind, much.

Did it ever occur to anyone that the hadleys hope maintenance cam feed could have been recovered from from the wreckage of the colony? Or the possibility that the remaining elements  like the cacooned marine and the alien attack knocking you out the window arent even on hadleys hope, just another "shake and bake" colony gone bad.

Its just a thought... Im probably wrong but its still technically possible.

Well, yes, someone had mentioned that most assumptions of Hadley Hope's survival were based on the camera feed.  He had said that it could have been old, salvaged footage.  It would make more sense.

It's honestly ridiculous to make judgments on the tiny elements of not-story we've seen so far.  I'm sure the writers will work hard to make the plot work while answering some older questions brought up by the films.

Very true...but you can't help from people speculating about it.  I've been trying to divorce myself from trying to make sense out the trailer to almost no avail...and I don't even really care if the storyline sucks because the atmosphere is where this game will/should be at.  I don't think there are many people on this site who will not invest in a copy of this game.

But talking/debating about this sort of stuff is always fun.

Im betting they explain everything and it ties up all the loose ends. My bud and I were watching the trailer and we both just thought, "Why wasn't THIS story the 4th movie?" It makes logical sense that the Company was up to no good and were pulling strings all along. It also makes sense that The Company was lying to everyone, or simply was keeping knowledge of the Xenos NEED TO KNOW, and this includes not telling people like Burke, who could easily sell the information. So when Burke sent the colony to the Derelict, those IN THE KNOW, had to act fast. This has always been my take on ALIEN3, if I had to provide a concrete answer. I dont pretend to know this is a fact, just that it is illogical that the Company (or better yet THOSE IN THE COMPANY WHO KNOW) gave up on the Derelict after the Nostromo disappeared. It is not illogical to then think that they would need to get to the Colony and perform some clean up (IE make sure no one finds out about what happens on LV426) before any maines can report back and/or they lose their treasure. So..LSS there's more going on than what we see in the movies and I'd say the Company was one step ahead or right behind Ripley and the Marines the whole way. It also makes sense that the Company would want them all dead.

As of right now that camera feed may be the ONLY part of Hadley's Hope left for all we know.
Yes in later parts of the trailer we see the FPV character fighting Xenos in what appears to be other heavily broken parts of a colony but that could be any colony thats gets a littlebanged up.

Something tells me that may be the case, especially the part where we see all the eggs.
