Or to create an awesome Sci-Fi spectacle like the Ebert-backed Prometheus  :P

If The Forever War is a minute shorter than at least say 2 hours and 15 minutes, it will be ruined. Hell, it's one of those stories that truly deserves a 3 hour run time. I'd rather see Peter Jackson direct it.  :-\

Totally agree on the time.

However, Peter Jackson better stay the hell away from my baby>:(

Yeah, that would be a supremely WTF choice to direct a hard sci-fi space opera.

Ridley Scott or Duncan Jones.

Preferably Duncan Jones, but I'll take Ridley Scott as a runner up any day.

Kathryn Bigelow or James Cameron, based on the synopsis.

Like one would think from the director of Bad Taste to direct a trilogy adaptation of some of the most cherished literary high fantasy epics. {exhale}

I'd be cool with that. The story is meant for Bigelow, the visuals are meant for Cameron. Or Scott. Whatever, I just don't want Scott to have any hand in the editing.

I'd pull for Bigelow over Cameron, considering the books content and her previous few films.

But Duncan Jones is still my #1

Nightmare Asylum

Duncan Jones needs to do more films in general.

Gotta get the butts in the seats, ya'know?

But anyways, as far as Jackson goes, everyone (justifiably) goes on about how great LotR is, but there's King Kong as well. Words can not express how much I love that (gotta give it another watch sometime soon, actually. Been far too long). Jackson is great at combining epic sale conflict and adventure with genuine emotion while making 3+ hour films go by like nothing (heck, my mom of all people loved King Kong and actually genuinely liked the extended LotR trilogy when I showed her the films a few months ago). Sure, Middle Earth and Skull Island aren't science fiction, but that's kind of irrelevant. The man is great at what he does.
