That's cool, but I dont see the point in buying a movie on blu-ray if it wasnt shot in HD.  Unless there's a sh*t load of special features, then I'll buy it 

Watch Alien in bluray, then DVD and report back on which you prefer

You've no idea about Blu-Ray then. Older movies were NOT shot on standard DVD definition, and even HD still not represent their real quality, so even 50 years old movie may look much better on BD than on DVD, it depends on source material quality & remastering.

A couple of the covers seem to be from behind the scenes shots of the Aliens [specifically Aliens and Alien 3], so I'm not too sure if they're completely genuine or not. But still, here you go.

So if the Alien blu ray costs $26.99 then all four should be like $124 yes?
