If you've ever thought about doing it I say go for it.  Because then you'll always wonder if you could've done it.  I don't like my mind nagging at me.

However I wouldn't go without knowing all the negatives first.  Of which there are many.

That's true. Most of the people I know that have joined came back COMPLETELY changed and are COMPLETE dickheads. Something happens in those tiny bunks that destroys people sanity.

Rent before you buy.  Go reserves/guard first.  If you don't like it then you only have to put up with it for weekends/summer/deployments.  The rest of the time your at home.  If you do like it you can always switch to Active in whatever your MOS is as long as you have a reason (say monetary).  Plus the only thing that Active has over Reserves/National Guard is Ranger Regiment.  Reserves have Psyop and Civil Affairs (though only AD PSYOP/CA are part of SOCOM), and NG has LRS, RSTA, and Special Forces.

I'd say it's more of a not amused look instead of an unhappy one.
