I just found my copy of this a week ago.

If you look at the picture of Ripley hanging on...her ankles are crossed and feet are touching the pipe. The shot for the movie must have been above that. True to Finchers style looking up.

I developed my soft spot for it before that part of my teens, but I'd be lying if I said I'd watched it sober in the last decade.

Everyone bitches about the movie being brown but god damn dat cinematography is ace. Nobody made ADI's Aliens look so good.

Even on VHS I was loving that part tbh, but better image quality does help it. The only parts that ever cheesed me about it were the Alien redesign and the undignified death of the Queen, but to be both blunt and a bit cheeky, I then turned 15, made friends, had sex, touched grass etc.

DVD and VHS never really let the shots of the Aliens shine the way they do in HD for me - figuratively and literally.
