Huh, I always thought of Canada as a pretty cool country

Quote from: Kradan on Jul 12, 2022, 01:27:25 PMMostly high 30s. Is it hotter in NZ ?

Nope, mostly high 20's to mid 30's in summer because of the sea cooling things, but with a lot of humidity so it feels much worse than it should.

QuoteWell, of course you Ausies do everything backwards. I've read somewhere many years ago that you celebrate New Year at the beach, is it true ?

They do, and we do too. Christmas is also often celebrated with a beach picnic or barbecue.

We typically (at least in Ontario) get hot summers and cold winters (-30C to -40c).

I kinda prefer winter.

Quote from: HuDaFuK on Jul 12, 2022, 12:29:55 PMIt's not the heat, it's the humidity.

I was in Phoenix, Arizona once and it was 40 degrees C, but it was so bone dry it was a hell of a lot more bearable than 28 degrees here in the UK.
22, 80% humidity here the same day a Scottish friend was complaining of the same in summer.

It gets cool at night but midday in winter where I live you can comfortably walk around in short clothes. Not so much down south, their winters are proper. Further north is the tropics, winter is meaningless to them.

Yeah, but they're Scots, most of them can't even remember what the sun looks like.

Coldest outdoor temperature I've ever experienced was -3 and, being used to temperate conditions, I found that to be quite a shock even with good thick layers of wool and leather.

Did you turn around and take the alternate route through Khazad-dûm?

So yesterday I was supposed to be in early to meet a contractor but forgot and left them in the lurch. Rescheduled for today. So my body decides its going to wake me every hour after 1am so I got up in time today. I am soooo tired.

Unfortunately I ended up in Mordor and have been contending with methamphetamine fueled orcs for the last several years.  All the brimstone dust from the volcano makes things greasy when it rains, too.
