For me, David is the best villain since Ash, so I couldn't agree more. The villain has enough merits to deserve an ending to his arc. In the original film series, the heroine sacrifices herself to stop the Alien once and for all for sake of mankind, and at the same time prevent it from falling into the hands of the company.
That last detail makes you wonder what would be the most appropriate ending for David, who, unlike Ripley, is a villain. 🤔 I definitely need to see that in some way. And I want Ridley to direct it. Otherwise, it wouldn't be the same.
I think I have an open mind for any scenario; whether David remains the creator of Giger's Alien, a shared discovery, the one responsible for the De-extinction of an ancient life form, etc. Furthemore, and as someone already said, I think a comic book / novel wouldn't be enough. It needs to be a movie without a doubt.
Back on topic, I'd love to see Guy Pearce back in flashbacks. Maybe that can reveal twists of David's character, and since the Covenant prologue was so beautifully crafted, that I would be delighted to see more interaction between both characters.
