Isolation is definitely continuity. I haven't had a chance to read the novels myself yet. That changes once I'm done with art on #1.
You don't need to have read anything going into this book. If you've seen Alien, and MAYBE Prometheus, then you're good. If you've played Isolation, better, but that's kind of the bulk of what we're running with right now. There's definitely ALIENS tech... There's a dropship in the first few pages of #1, and we've got the pulse rifles.
There'll be nods to things here and there that foreshadow things like Alien 3 and Resurrection where I can fit them in without it being shoehorned, but Brian's been really great with scripting and taking my feedback on. Seriously, I've written Brian, Dave and Spencer eye-rollingly long emails about the continuity between the films since Prometheus hit and how that affects things like "crew expendable" orders and Burke's motivations for what he does in Aliens. Also, why the alien itself is valuable to Weyland-Yutani. Also, the differences in morphology (domes vs ridges, etc.).
