These aren't balls inside the craters, what you see on picture is a row of temples enclosed by the walls. Inside one of the temples, Prometheus' crew purportedly will find a Giant Head.

You may be on to something there. Maybe each temple is devoted to a different "God", or member of the Engineer race. Maybe the Prometheus crew only runs afoul of one of them, and the rest are still there at the end, still waiting to be revived. Or something.

Hmm. Kinda hope it doesn't go down that route.

I havent read every post, but in trying to ascertain the events from the trailers in chronological order i have one problem assuming that the suicide mission to bring down the derelict ship, to me would naturally be towards the end, in the ground shots with people running away from the ship we have a fit looking Shaw? is it just me or does this throw the timeline out?

I'm thinking maybe in the 3rd act, the Prometheus survivors search the other temples or actually go looking for a second derelict to escape and of course they steal the thing. However the space jockey's probably have some-sort of intergalactic anti-theft system. Complete with Space Jockey suit and an over-kill of alien beasties that land upon them the righteous hand of god. Which causes them to all die and crash land on LV-426.

Oh, that would sure be a new take on the Prometheus mythology. Prometheus keeps trying to steal gods fire but never actually succeeds. Over and over again to only die in horrible ways.

those resemble xeno eggs. i like it. reminds me of the interminable corridors of the first movie.
