I'm currently reading Battle Royale. Always loved the film, after a rewatch last week I decided to finally get the book. It's a nice sized thing. I'm about 300 pages in and halfway through.

I skimmed a few pages and thought it read mostly stale.

The movie is pure magic and first introduced me to Gogo Yubari.

It was certainly a struggle at times - I really struggle when books stop for a chapter, introduce a character, lay out their backstory, then kill them - but when it was going, I really enjoyed it. I do think I'd rather watch the film though. f**king love the film.

Urban fantasy Night Watch series by Sergei Lukyanenko:

Night Watch (1998)
Day Watch (2000)
Twilight Watch (2004)
Last Watch (2006)
New Watch (2013)
Sixth Watch (2014)

I'm finishing Last Watch at the moment. If you're fan of Neil Gaiman then give it a go. Urban fantasy at its best. It's dark, gritty, humorous and epic.

It was something like 60 EUR though. And it partly fell apart during reading.

I know for a fact the day I'd buy a copy, they'd announce the omnibus and I'd be sitting there with an $80 paperweight.

I freaking flew through that one! I've got 3 waiting for its turn but I'm currently reading Triumphant, the last of the Genesis Fleet books. Only just started this one.

Aliens: Berserker.

S. D. Perry really managed to improve on the source material, am quite enjoying this one.

The used copy I got a few years back also got some cuts. Heck its this or nothing. At least it ended up being my favorite Predator novel.

I'm always surprised at how much she elevates that comic. Berserker is probably one of my top Alien novels. Very good book.

I'm on the last half and its already on my top 5. Not a fan of the books with her dad but her Aliens: Labyrinth novel is my favorite of all. I quite enjoy her writing.

Yeah, I much prefer Stephani over her father.
