Depends on the film anyway.  In Aliens, they had very watery drool, while in Alien it was extremely viscous.

And just because it watery when first excreted doesn't mean it stays that way.

So did AvP rip off Res in that regard?  Can't exactly remember the scene in AvP.  Was Verheiden lured into a trap or did he just happen to pick up the slime covered gun of someone who'd already been abducted?

I wonder how the aliens replenish all the water they lose by drooling. Probably the same way they manage to grow so fast.
