Quote from: SiL on Dec 12, 2023, 12:02:01 PMIt's not the walking, it's redesigning the legs specifically to show in CGI that they're not human like, or adding a fan to the tail just because they'll swim in one scene.

I mean sure there is a logic there but it's a dumb one.

The logic in Resurrection is genetic jiggery pokery.  Queens have that funky foot - ipso facto.

AvP and fin tails - yeah dunno.

We're talking the real-world rationale behind the changes, not the in-film rationale. The leg design was changed because they wanted to show them off in CGI, and the tails were given fins for the one scene (where the fact they have fins on their tails feels fairly irrelevant).

I mean, just that, that's what they are in Apocalypse.

That's not what they look like in the comic.

Shoulders and neck are a bit more biomech but overall it's the same design. The tubing visible in the legs is present in ADI's suits.

I swear there's a shot of one from the back that looks fairly biomech.

Found it.

More clean, but yes, still the same design, shame though.

Wanted to show them off in CGI or wanted a full body shot that looked less like a dude in a suit?

Tomato tomato. They were changed because effects would let them show off non human legs.

Local Trouble

Which is stupid given Alien 3 demonstrated that they inherit the locomotor traits of their hosts.

SiL

Which goes back to the point being that the design change logic was kind of naff.

SM

As were the effects that demonstrated that they inherit the locomotor traits of their hosts.

SiL

We have all taken a long time to ultimately say nothing.

This is the way.
