I don't have a learning disability but I do have a chronic respiratory illness that I inherited genetically.  Basically, I'm allergic to everything and I get symptoms all year round.  It really messes my head up which is why I haven't been able to excel academically but I have some more treatment options now which is good as I'll be going back to university next year.

Apathy.

I can pass every subject with minimal knowledge. If I actually studied, I'd be a certifiable genius.

And that's not just me saying it. Amount of teachers I've disappointed over the years ... whoa boy.

That's a disorder? I always figured that was just me being awesome. I'm the same. I passed my GCSEs with 10 minutes revision. 1 A, 2 Cs and the rest were Bs. I think I took about 10 GCSEs.

Yesterday I wrote an essay with barely a glance at my research. It was an essay comparing French New Wave and the Hollywood system. The only thing that got me was the wording on the assignment sheet. They never make it clear enough for me.

I have mild autism. It's mild because I have autism but at a certain level as in i'm pretty smart for a guy with autism. Infact i'm so smart I tell my friends I have mild autism and they don't beleive me well most of them anyway. It's almost as if I don't have it but thats thanks to special teachers and all that I had to help me. I was smart since I was 5 years old. :)

A lot of autistic people are smarter than anyone else.

I'm horribly shit at maths like Elitepredator.  :-\

I thought autism was just when you had no social skills?

Yea, thats what it is. People with major autism wouldnt be capable of posting here.

Then I'm not sure why Cloaked friends would be surprised. Autistic kids are generally rather smart.

A lot of people with learning disorders use them as excuses to be assholes in my experience. I'm not saying anybody here does that, but I have a few examples that come to mind all the time.

*A boy I know who always picks fights with my younger brother for no reason. If I walk up to him and raise my hand against him, people start shouting at me, saying it's not his fault, he's got ADHD, but the reality of it is people just sit there and watch while he does it, I mean, his stupid mother just sits there and smiles while he throws stones at toddlers ffs.

*Somebody I knew during school who used his mild Dyspraxia as an excuse for being lazy all the time. He kept on saying how he needed a special needs helper, but if it was really as bad as he made out, he would have actually been assigned one by the school. He used to be really smart, but once he found out he had Dyspraxia, he started acting stupid.

*Lastly someone else I know who has aspergers and always gets into fights overstupid things, and hates having his stuff touched. I mean, sure, his life has been f**ked up in lots of ways by lots of people, but his parents always used his aspergers as an excuse for his behaviour. The real reason was his mother intimidated all the female teachers so they were always scared to have a go at him for not working. He once sat through an entire school day reading comics and the teachers were too scared to do anything.

A lot of people? You've named 3.

Those are just examples I can pick out quickly from my own experience, there are others, but they follow the same pattern as the first 3 I posted.

Then its not the kids fault completely but rather the parent/people around him.

you can either do two things to a problem try to fix it or ignore it.

Their are different degress of autism. Some are not social some are very social, some are smarter at collage science then public school math, some would rather organize toys than play with them.
