The deacon doesn't have eggs, facehuggers or queen.
You don't see those in the movie.

Of the alien. It features the alien's entire lifecycle: egg, facehugger, mature alien and queen.

That is the Deacon, dude.

Which aren't really visible in the mural as seen on screen. It definitely looks more like the Deacon than an actual Alien to me, though. Much more diminutive. Did we ever find out who actually sculpted/designed that mural? Would love to try and get some background on the intent of it.

Here are a few other screenshots to clear things up:

First one shows the entire mural, which is shaped like an alien egg:

Then there's a clearer image of the mural content, in which you can see two facehuggers to the sides of the mature drone. You should recognize them because they are the early Giger drawings of the facehugger. As for the queen, she can be seen behind/above the drone:

That is not an Alien Queen behind the drone. And the Deacon or a Neomorph could probably spawn from an earlier form of a facehugger like the trilobite. Many different creatures spawn from the black goo/virus. I like how it isn't spelled out for us, just like a lot of stuff wasn't spelled out for us in the original Alien.

This is based on what?

And just for the sake of argument, assuming everything you said is correct and the entire alien lifecycle can spawn from the goo...what exactly did David create then?

David quite clearly explained how the black goo spawned different creatures. He said some living hosts would be incubators for a hybrid form (AKA alien, neomorph, etc) if it didn't kill the victims outright. David himself said he created the xenomorph by experimenting with the black goo/virus on different lifeforms. The xenomorph is essentially a modified neomorph/deacon, which of course originated from the black goo/virus.

Yes, and his experiments led him to create eggs with facehuggers that require a human host. Yet here you can see on a 2000 year old mural that eggs and facehuggers and queens already existed.

The things on the mural are obviously similar to the traditional Alien. Also obviously not the same thing.

There is no Queen on the mural. It's a Deacon, and David is clearly not the sole creator of a facehugger type creature from the black goo/virus, as evidenced by the existence of the trilobite.

There is a queen in the mural; it's not the deacon and the trilobite is not a facehugger. It is bigger than the engineer, which is quite big himself.

Hamster1066

I can't see a queen in the mural. All I can see is a lot of different shapes that resemble the alien but in it's earlier Deacon form, or early Giger renditions of the facehugger.  It's a mural depicting the life the black goo creates and I can't see any timeline issues.

Evanus

I just see a Deacon-like creature, engineers with facehuggers on them and lots of organic shapes. No queen.

Predaker

Some seem to be missing the forest for the trees here and in other similar conversations. One of the intentions with showing David's works in Covenant is to reveal that he is now responsible for the original Alien; the progenitor of what we all know and love. That he did this by tinkering with pre-existing elements or ingredients is irrelevant to that aspect.

Parts of the imagery are remniscent of the queen's crest but there isn't a queen alien there.

Paranoid Android

So you guys can't see that queen. Fine, suppose. You still see the egg and facehuggers. If those existed 2000 years before the events of Prometheus, what exactly did David create?

How do you know?
Because David supposedly designs them according to those prequels, and without him they do not exist. Then again, you are free to provide evidence of deacon eggs, facehugger and queen to disprove my argument.

The mural.

Everything shown on the mural is different than the Alien as we know it and as seen in covenant.

We know that many of the properties inherent to davids creation are already present in other goo creatures. Impregnation, chestbursting, acid, enlongated heads ect. David may have created the alien as we know it, but other similar goo creatures appear to have been around for much longer. The creature and images in the mural do not look like the classic creatures because they aren't.
