She may be ready to lay an egg, or two without the sack, but to produce the mass amounts of eggs for a decent hive, she needs the sack.

I would think she can re-grow a new one fast, as soon as she find a decent amount of host in a given area, and a big-enough-space in a secluded-enough-area to grow the sack.

Yeah.  She could've rescued it from the hive on the way out, so it's not definate she laid it on the trip back to the Sulaco.

well she wasnt carrying one in that spot in AVP , with the same process happening. Besides, it makes sense if she can lay an egg for protection until she grows another sack. Just my thoughts.

She wasn't escaping an inferno of blazing eggs in AvP.  Time wasn't an issue.
