I think Alien 3 was the most depressing, Hicks died, and so did Newt, now Ripley had no one. The funeral scene also seemed a bit sadening, so overall I think it is the most depressing and sadest of all Alien films.

Gameoverman!GAMEOVER!

I agree. Closely followed by Alien though. They're the only true horror films in the series. Aliens is an action movie (and all the better for it) and Resurection is just a comedy.

Alien 3 is too depressing for my tastes.

Alien isn't depressing, just eerie. The whole thing about being alone in space with something new feels like anti-claustrophobia, with the miniature sets giving normal claustrophobia.

I think Alien3 has the most depressing tone of any of the sequels.

It's the only one that really tries to be depressing.

Aliens. It built everything up for a happy trip back to Earth and it wasn't courteous enough to warn the audience that Hick and Newt were going to die.

Thanks alot, Cameron!

Is he talking about Fincher the director or Fichter the effects dude?

That Yellow Alien

The depressing nature of A3 is the whole point of the movie. All of Fincher's films are depressing.

A3, obviously. Everyone dies, Ripley realizes she can't win, pretty tragic stuff.

He changed the post, so I guess it's Fincher the Director Dude.

Morse survived, he only got shot in the leg. You even see him leaving with the other company men.

Cameron had no idea what they were going to do with the sequel. Dark Horse even made its own comic sequel.
