Does this mean "Good News" for us incoming??? :) Lets hope so!

I going to be optimistic about this. SO I sure as hell hope it means good news.

Insults from Vasquez would lead me to a rethink too.

*****UPDATE, AUGUST 10TH, 2012*****

I have a mission for those who are going to the Gearbox Community Day event! (Details Here: http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/announcement.php?f=118&a=29 )

We would need as many as possible!

Your mission is very simple... ASK about the Playable Female situation!, Show your interest in numbers!, If a bunch of you ask at the panel, they might finally give us an answer!,

Get creative!, Make T-Shirts, or little paper signs! enex had a great image to use (thanks enex!), I have edited it for you to use on a piece of paper if you don't want to spend money on a T-Shirt and transfer paper

This image is sized 8"X10"

If you wish to accept this mission, please say so, so we know!

Anyone who will be there cannot miss this opportunity, if I could I would definitely go and show them a thing or two about this.

I read somewhere why they didnt include playable females was cuz it was just harder to animate or something. ??? Sometimes ppl are just lazy and dont want do more work :p However they are gonna have a Ripley skin..i think..right?

I believe that very same info was in this thread during its early days. So yeah, pretty much that's what they said, and many other games have done the same with no problems, I even posted a video about gender equality in video games, and the host talked with some developer about female and males in multi-player games...and they essentially said it was no problem at all to do that. So Gearbox is freaking lazy to say the least.

I think you may be confusing the Ripley flamethrower/pulse rifle combo weapon which comes with the collectors editionn, with a Ripley skin. They haven't announced any playable females as of yet.

Oh yeah thats right.

Female characters ideally should reflect things like a different walking gait, but it really wouldn't be that much more effort to programme. Especially if they're putting it in single-player, regardless.

I still think Sega missed an opportunity by not allowing Tequila to be in the most recent AVP game's multiplayer option.

I'm not a big fan of AVP3 making this  stereotype. Fluffy cartoony stuff like that ruins the experience.
I was hoping GB  didn't go this direction either, and use a stock poser model  look.

Which leads me to wonder if this is somehow Sega's doing. Perhaps they were afraid a game where players can be females and torn apart by other players would receive bans from countries with more uptight rating systems? Kind of silly if that's the case.

Another Design, Credit to Solaris Wave for the clever acronym :)
