If it recognised her as an Alien, then it would of assumed she knows where the Hive is too.

Seeing she didn't, it did her a favor.

How would it know?

I dunno. :P
But seriously, seeing that she didn't come to the hive to that point - under the logic of the Alien, that means that she doesn't know where the hive is. How could the Alien have known Ripley didn't give a f**k about it? :D

True, though as Sil pointed out, most of the Aliens don't even go to the hive unless resting. If Aliens did actually use the logic: not at hive = does not know where hive is, then we would allot of Aliens piggybacking each other :)

LoL! But Ripley has never been to the hive, as opposed to all of the aliens in that point...

Alien: "I'll just take this dude to mah lair"
Alien: "Where's mah eggs?" *f**ks off*
Marine: Ah!!!! *kills the Queen and all the eggs*
...There are no eggs, that's the point. And if the Queen isn't laying eggs, she's useless, so why would they care if something killed her?

QuoteBasically, why would the ultimate organism let it's prey run free in it's hive? Wasn't that the whole purpose of introducing cocooning in Aliens?
Cocooning was to keep people down so that Aliens could be born.

There are no eggs, so no new Aliens. There is nothing of any real value in the hive, so nothing to protect by immobilising Ripley. Cocooning her would be a waste of time.

When the Queen got killed in the hive there were practically no Aliens. They couldn't sense the danger for the Queen seconds before the Newborn omnibitchslapped her.

So because she's stopped producing eggs for a second they're going to go and dump Marines etc into the hive to run around freely and destroy what the hell they want? That would be a very stupid thing for them to do.

So what, you want them to lay down and die? There is still valuable hosts in there.

They also blatantly ignored about twenty eggs being blown to pieces

If the prey has a means of destroying the eggs, they would likely kill them and not bring them back to the Hive in the first place.

And no way of impregnating them.

Was Ripley a marine?

No.

Was she armed?

No.

Is anyone ever armed after being kidnapped?

No.

So it's a moot point. I'm not saying they'd allow armed people to run around destroy stuff; just that if there are no eggs, there's nothing really to protect. A new hive can be made elsewhere no problem.

Only one that seemed to be alive.

Also what SM said.

And if one wants to get more esoteric, one could argue Ripley's DNA affected the way the Aliens treated her.  ie. They didn't see her as host material.  But on the other hand the hugger had no such compunctions, so who knows.

Maybe the Hugger being only a part of the cycle thas serves for little time hasn't a better developed brain which doesn't recognize which to facehug and which not.
