For the people who enjoy listing to music growing up, which one did you like as a kid? My favorites were:

The Beatles
Green Day
Foo Fighters
Nirvana
The Rolling Stones
Stone Temple Pilots
Smash Mouth
Smashing Pumpkins
Third Eye Blind
Will Smith (Not a big fan of rap or hip hop, but I did enjoy his stuff growing up)
White Zombie
U2

I might be forgetting more. I might edit this later.

Never heard of them, but I'm sure they're great as wikipedia says they are.

Ummm, would you all hate me if it was cool to listen to the Backstreet Boys when I was five/six?

So what you're saying is you had a sex change some point after that.

Nah, in all seriousness, all of the guys were constantly singing their stuff.

I very quickly grew out of it, though. And then I went through this odd stage where I didn't just not listen to music, but I absolutely hated it until about 2010 when a friend started showing me a band that he liked (Story of the Year, which I also don't really listen to anymore).

Jokes aside I would think anything of it. You were 5 or 6. When I was that age I was listening to Disco Mickey. I feel like I am at that stage now (the not listening to anything in particular), I enjoy listening to like... I don't even know what you call it... I'll give an example.

Things like this

over like real songs. I feel like the 90s were the last great era of music. The radio nowadays makes me cringe.

Assuming "kid" describes 13 and under...
-Beatles
-Holly Cole
-Was Not Was
-Bob Marley
-Holst
-Vivaldi
-Jamiroquai
-Neighbours theme song
-Assorted disco and soul anthems
-Billie Piper (I'd love to say this was my last foray into teenie girl pop, but then Britney Spears appeared the following year. I bought the single. That was the end though, honestly.)

Hmm, oddly enough threw most of my childhood I did not like music.  My mother only exposed me to nice things like classical and...kid friendly rock.  During middle school I discovered anime and the only music I listened to was anime scores.  But after a while I discovered internet rps and AMVs which exposed me to my childhood bands which still remain my favorites as of now.  It's a weird set of bands for a child but damn if I did not love everything about theses bands at the time.

Korn
Evanescence
Linkin Park
Marilyn Manson
Papa Roach
Insane Clown Posse

The week Evanescence came out with the infamous Bring me to Life and Going Under song I was an instant fan and I will stick by the band till it falls!  Still there music means the world to me and when I listen to the songs I remember the shiver it sent down my spine.

Before my teenage years, all I listened to was 106.7 FM KROQ every morning and sometimes during the day.
