I actually quite like seeing all the different variations on the head. There's some interesting interpretations out there.

The phallic head is easily the most unique, and disturbing aspect of the Alien.  The fact that it has no eyes adds to the terror.  The eyeless quality makes it completely alien to us.  It is a testament to H.R. Giger's dark genius that after nearly 40 years, the terror of this design is really undiminished.
