Resurrection was my very first Alien movie I've seen at cinema. I was 14-years-old and I enjoyed it big time. Is it good as its three predecessors? Hell NO! But it's still well-made sci-fi action movie. Is it good as Alien movie? It's different than others for sure. I'm big fan of Jean-Pierre Jeunet's cinematic style (
The City of Lost Children,
Amelie and
Micmacs) and for that reason I don't take this movie too seriously.
Comparing this movie to AvPR is an utter heresy
As a movie itself it's just better on every lever.
Resurrection's got amazing visuals (Darius Khondji), art/production design is superb and score is pretty decent. Chemists between characters is well-performed. It's grotesque Alien movie with dark/slapstick humour that adds to its peculiar nature. What's wrong about that?
